The Western Maryland Resource Conservation and Development Council’s (WMRC&D) mission is to build and sustain resource conservation programs which raise the quality of social, economic, and environmental development in our region.  The WMRC&D Council was incorporated in 1993 to represent Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick, and Carroll counties in Maryland.  The Council is locally driven by representatives from the counties’ Board of Commissioners, Soil Conservation Districts, municipalities, grassroots organizations, and interested members at large.  With over twenty five years as an established council, the WMRC&D will continue to serve the residents of the five-county area and beyond in assisting them with addressing their economic, social and environmental concerns.

      WMRC&D is partnering with the USDA National Resources Conservation Service and The Nature Conservancy in an ongoing effort to restore Maryland’s Pocomoke river:
