COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

Mask policy:

Different test centers may have different mask policies. If you have any questions about the mask policy at a specific location, please contact the test center directly.

Effective August 1, 2021, Pearson VUE will no longer require that candidates wear face masks while testing at a Pearson VUE testing center, unless local laws require masks be worn. Candidates may of course continue to wear a mask if they choose.

Scheduling your test:

Please note that only test centers that are open at the time that you attempt to schedule your appointment will appear in the seat availability tool and during the scheduling process.

In support of your health and safety and the health and safety of our employees, we will follow recommendations from the CDC and World Health Organization for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, we ask that candidates comply with the health and safety guidelines outlined on Pearsons COVID-19 webpage

Registration for the updated Cognitive Impairment (115) and Emotional Impairment (116) tests is now open for testing beginning on July 12, 2021.

MDE COVID-19 Temporary Certification Guidance Under Executive Order 2020-35

Until September 30, 2020, the Michigan Department of Education is able to issue eligible candidates a temporary, one-year certificate if they have not yet had the opportunity to take and pass the appropriate Michigan Test(s) for Teacher Certification. The executive order related to COVID-19 providing this flexibility will no longer be in effect after September 30, 2020. Close Senate Bill 889

On June 26, 2018, Governor Snyder signed Senate Bill 889 into law, thereby eliminating the requirement that teacher candidates in Michigan pass a basic skills examination. The effective date of the law is September 25, 2018. Please contact your academic adviser at your educator preparation program for information about how this change affects you.
