KCHA, Microsoft, and King County partner to preserve affordable housing Microsoft, King County, and KCHA are partnering in a combined $245 millioninvestment to protect 1,029 units of affordable housing located near transit hubs or in booming real estate markets in the region.As the first partnership to originate from Microsoft s $500 million pledge to address homelessness and develop affordable housing in the region, KCHA received a $60 million below-market interest rate loan from Microsoft to purchase five apartment complexes: Kirkland Heights, Juanita View, and Emerson in KIrkland; Kendall Ridge in Bellevue; and Riverstone Apartments in Federal Way. Funding for these acquisitions also includes a$20 million below-market rate loan and credit enhancement from King County and $140 million in bonds issued by KCHA.
