Also, in light of the current Covid-19 close down of all schools, the grammar heads have agreed to move the registration opening date to Monday, 18th May 2020: this will give all parents/carers two additional weeks to complete the process. The online registration system will close at noon on Tuesday, 30th June 2020. Those who fail to register will not be able to sit the test in September. When the registration process is complete, further details of the test day will be provided by the allocated test centre where the candidate will sit the test. The expectation is that the entrance test will go ahead as planned on Saturday 12th September 2020. However, if any changes are necessary communication will continue with all parents/carers who register their Year 5 children and this communication will be via email so please ensure you register with an email address that is fully accessible to you at all times. To summarise, parents/carers will need to register their child between 18th May and 30th June as normal and plan for their child to sit the test on Saturday 12th September 2020. In the meantime, parents/carers may find it helpful to look at the latest entrance test familiarisation guide and the Entrance Test FAQs (both documents are available on all seven grammar school websites:Denmark Road High School : https://www.denmarkroad.orgMarling School : https://www.marling.school Pate's Grammar School https://www.patesgs.org/Ribston Hall High School https://www.ribstonhall.gloucs.sch.uk/Sir Thomas Rich's School https://strschool.co.uk/Stroud High School https://www.stroudhigh.gloucs.sch.uk/The Crypt School https://www.cryptschool.org/FacebookLike us on FacebookSchool Closure Update - 20 March 2020Denmark Road High School will be open on Monday only for our vulnerable students and for our students who are the children of critical workers.Children of critical workersThe government guidance is extremely clear: If you are a critical worker and are able to keep your children at home you should. They should not be cared for by a friend or relative who is in an identified vulnerable group, this includes people with underlying heath conditions or those over 70 years old. Only, if they are not able to keep your child at home then please send your child to school at the normal time, in the normal uniform. School buses will be running as normal on Monday. The government has defined critical workers as:Health and social careIncludes frontline health and social care staff - such as doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics, as well as support and specialist staff in the health and social care sector. In addition, those working in supply chains, including producers and distributors of medicines and personal protective equipment, are included.Education and childcareIncludes nursery, teaching staff and social workers, as the department said these workers are required to deliver their plans.Key public servicesThose required to run the justice system, religious staff, as well as those responsible for managing the deceased and journalists providing public service broadcasting are on the list.Local and national governmentThe list "only includes administrative occupations essential to the effective delivery of the COVID-19 response or delivering essential public services", including payment of benefits.Food and other necessary goodsIncludes those involved in the production, processing, distribution, sale and delivery of food.Public safety and national securityPolice, support staff, Ministry of Defence civilian staff and armed forces personnel are on the list, along with fire and rescue staff, as well as those responsible for border security, prison and probation staff.TransportIncludes those who will keep "air, water, road and rail passenger and freight transport modes operating during the COVID-19 response".Utilities, communication and financial servicesStaff required to keep oil, gas, electricity, water and sewerage operations running are on the list, along with those in the civil nuclear, chemical and telecommunications sectors. Those in postal services and working to provide essential financial services provision are also included.Vulnerable Students Our vulnerable students are welcome to attend our school as usual. This includes our students who have a social worker, those with Education, Health and Care Plans and those that have free school meals. We will be contacting students and parents who we believe are in this group this afternoon. If you have not been contacted but believe this applies to you, if you need further guidance or simply need to talk - then please contact us. We will continue to be open at Denmark Road High School for these two groups of students throughout the originally planned Easter Holiday. Students who remain at home, including students in the above groups who are self or household isolating, will continue to be in touch with their teachers using our ShowMyHomework (satchel:one) app, Google Hangouts Chat and Google Meet. This is in addition to a wealth of online learning resources which they will be supplied with to support the continuation of their studies. As a reminder, every child who can be safely cared for at home should be. Discover More Discover More Heart of the CityDenmark Road High School is at the heart of Gloucester City. The stunning setting of Gloucester Cathedral welcomes our students and parents for Honour s Evening. This event recognises the outstanding achievements our students have made in Academics, Sports, STEM and the Arts during the academic year. The Cathedral also hosts our Annual Charity Concert and our Christmas Carol Service. We value our role in the community through the contributions our students make to local charities and causes. We are proud our students welcome residents of local nursing homes to a tea party at the school. Other students volunteer at food banks and homeless shelters while the students of local primary schools benefit from the support with their reading and languages during our regular student visits. We regularly highlight and support local charities through various fundraising events throughout the school year. Our Sixth Form students certainly benefit from our close proximity to the city centre and Gloucester Quays with its multiple shopping and cafe options. Denmark Road High School is outward-looking, forward-thinking, community focussed and will always be at the Heart of the City. Mrs R Hayward, Office Events Manager deals with queries from parents/carers and other members of the public. She will forward the query to the most relevant member of staff. All visitors to the school are required to bring photographic ID.
