Wounded Warrior Dogs Project & K9 War Stories February 15 - May 10, 2020 Canine Warriors was designed by Ohio master craftsman James Mellick to not only bring attention to the service and heroism of military working dogs,but to be symbolic of the courageous sacrifices and wounds suffered during battle by their human companions and to raise awareness about their needs. This exhibit won the ArtPrize Public vote in 2016. The Continual Struggle: The American Freedom Movement and the Seeds of Social Change Now through May 31, 2020 The Continual Struggle depicts the pain, sacrifice and emotion of those who fought for freedom during the civil rights movement. This selection of 23 works by artist Brian Washington offers a stark glimpse of those tumultuous times. Celebrate Black History Month at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum through his powerful and moving art. Exhibit sponsors: Fifth Third Bank and The Frey Foundation. Walk through the Core Exhibits, learn about Gerald R. Ford s childhood and early years in Grand Rapids. Continue the tour as Mr. Holloway explains how Ford s time as a student at the University of Michigan helped shape the man who becomes a Congressman, Vice President and eventually, President. The tour concludes with the final gallery honoring the funeral services of both President and Mrs. Ford. Bonus tours include an inside look at the Cabinet Room and Oval Office displays. View our Temporary Exhibits: The Continual Struggle: The American Freedom Movement and the Seeds of Social Change Hear from the artist Brian Washington as he introduces his artwork documenting the Civil Rights Movement and America s historical struggle against segregation and other race-based injustices. The exhibit opened in February in honor of Black History Month, which President Ford instituted in 1976. Exhibit sponsors include the Frey Foundation and Fifth Third Bank.
