The WA Cultural Infrastructure Map identifies existing cultural and creative spaces across the State. WA’s vibrant arts and culture sector continues to receive support from the State Government, with 17 projects representing a variety of disciplines sharing in more than $709,000 from two grants programs. A writers' festival in Geraldton, community sculpture in Esperance, and a series of astro-photography activities in Mount Magnet are some of the vibrant initiatives receiving funding from the latest round of the Regional and Remote Festivals Fund. The stunning new WA Museum Boola Bardip has now welcomed over 250,000 visitors since opening its doors on 21 November 2020. Performing arts companies will tour a mixture of world class hip-hop opera, theatre, international jazz, cross-cultural work and musical comedy across regional Western Australia, with funding from the Playing WA grants program. Four major WA touring companies will share just under $1.6 million, taking their productions to regional Western Australia over the next three years, as part of the State Government's Playing WA Multi-year grants program. Western Australia is one step closer to a revitalised Perth Cultural Centre, with the contract for the masterplan awarded to Perth architectural firm Taylor Robinson Chaney Broderick. Arts and cultural venues in regional Western Australia will be buzzing with increased programs of activity next year, thanks to the In the House grants program. The State Government has released the first ever Cultural Infrastructure Framework for WA, outlining a roadmap for holistic cultural infrastructure planning and investment in the State until 2030 and beyond. A total of 23 projects by artists and arts organisations from across the State will share in almost $1 million in funding through the State Government's Arts 15k-plus grant program. With just one day to go until COVID-19 contact registers become mandatory for many WA local businesses and venues, there are a number of State Government resources available to assist with communications to stakeholders. Premier Mark McGowan will officially present the Perth Festival with a Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund grant of $6.3 million and will announce an additional $1 million in support, at the opening night of the festival's Lotterywest Films season. Popular Perth rock band Methyl Ethel will embark on a worldwide publicity campaign for their new album, thanks to funding from the State Government's Contemporary Music Fund Grant Program. The State Government has announced that mandatory contact registers at relevant businesses and venues will be introduced from 5 December 2020. Bookings for the spectacular new WA Museum Boola Bardip over the summer holiday season are now open. Australian rock band Eskimo Joe and singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly lead an all-star cast in a series of short films that have had their world premiere today, as part of the opening celebrations for the new WA Museum Boola Bardip.
