In 2012the Board of Directors with the support of the membership undertook an ambitiousplan to further the goals and ambitions of the Alberta Goat industry, recognizing that the industry had grown beyond the original mandate to include producers of all types of goats:dairy, meat and fibre. The mandate of the AGA changed to acknowledge the everincreasing workload of the volunteer board to have the industry recognized as awhole to government, the Alberta agricultural industry and the public at large. As of May2018 there are 50 members from across Alberta. A board of ten directorsimplements the objectives of the association and members take part in an annualgeneral meeting. AGA activities include seminars, shows, displays, demonstrations, and information services with a primary focus on the AGA Convention andProduction Sale held in the Fall. AGA news and other goat related articles and information are available in the AGA's official monthly communication e-newsletter "Goat Droppings" and in the bimonthly magazine "GoatKeeper", as well as on this site. The AGAworks closely with Alberta Agriculture and Food and the Diversified LivestockFund of Alberta to further the goat industry. As well, the AGA is a votingmember of the Canadian National Goat Federation and a supporting member of theAlberta Farm Animal Care and the International Goat Association.
