Art is about inclusion. Art is about honoring cultures and people from all walks of life. Art is about empathy. Unfortunately, the Theatre Arts industry has not historically honored the stories and cultures of people of color by producing and performing such stories. We at Pullman Civic Theatre have contributed to that inequality by focusing on works authored by white, primarily male, playwrights and by not providing enough opportunities for people of color to participate in our programing. We apologize. Looking forward to the 2020-2021 season and onward, we commit to producing more art that tells stories written by and about people of color, to seek out more volunteers from underrepresented communities, and to support organizations working to fight inequality. We commit to expanding our repertoire and outreach to ensure we are representing everyone in our communities.
