地球上では様々な物質が循環して地球環境を形成している。生物は炭素や窒素などの親生物元素の循環を加速しながら有機物を生産・消費し、一方で有害物質を蓄積したり分解する。人類の生存はこのような生物活動でもたらされる安定な環境と食糧供給に依存しているが、人為的な環境変化が顕在化し、生物の活動に重大な影響が現れてきた。沿岸域に典型的に見られるように、富栄養化や汚濁、赤潮や有害プランクトンの発生と広域化など、水圏環境は生物の生存にとって好ましくない方向へ変化している。環境の変化はまず水質と底質の変化となって現れ、次いで動植物プランクトンや細菌などの世代時間が短く発生量の多い生物の生態や種組成の変化として現れる。本研究室では、室内実験とフィールドワークを通じて水圏の環境特性を把握し、細菌や植物プランクトンの分類や生態、環境適応などの生物特性を解明して、その理解のもとに水圏環境の保全をはかることを目指している。<<< Thank you for your visit >>>
