The ECFA Newsletter 7 is out!

The preparation of the Accelerator and Detector RD Roadmaps is in full swing. The joint ECFA-EPS session organised at the occasion of the EPS-HEP conference, held online on 30 July 2021, was an important moment to further the discussion. The newsletter reports on the status of these roadmaps, on the recently approved FCC feasibility study and on ongoing Joint ECFA-NuPECC and APPEC activities. 

 

Professor Patricia Conde Muino elected as the new ECFA Secretary

During its plenary meeting on 23 July, Patricia Conde Muino (LIP Lisbon) was appointed as the next Secretary of ECFA, the European Committee for Future Accelerators. For the period from July 2021 to December 2023 she will support the ECFA Chair Karl Jakobs in the day-to-day running of the ECFA activities.

Professor Karl Jakobs elected as the new ECFA chair

During its plenary meeting on 19 November, the election of Karl Jakobs (University of Freiburg) was endorsed as the next chairperson of ECFA, the European Committee for Future Accelerators. On 1 January 2021 he takes over from Jorgen D’Hondt (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) for a mandate of three years.

ECFA Newsletter #6 (Winter 2020) is out

On 19 and 20 November 2020, ECFA had its plenary meeting including report of major future collider projects and related aspects. This newsletter reports on the presentations including the status of the developments of Accelerator and Detector RD Roadmaps.

Open Plenary ECFA meeting (19-20 Nov 2020)

Open sessions of Plenary ECFA will be held on 19-20 November 2020 in virtual mode. The meeting is open for all to participate and together with reports on future colliders and collider technologies, it will include a special session on gamma-factories.

ECFA Early-Career Researcher Panel

Following the productive debate ECFA organised in November 2019 in the context of the European Strategy for Particle Physics among about 180 early-career researchers, the creation of a permanent ECFA Early-Career Researcher (ECR) Panel was initiated. The objective of the ECR Panel is for its members, PhD students and postdocs in ECFA countries, to discuss all aspects that contribute in a broad sense to the future of the research field of particle physics. The mandate is available on the ECFA website. At this stage, members of Restricted ECFA are instructed to seek first members of the panel aiming for endorsement at the upcoming Plenary ECFA meeting of 19-20 November 2020.
