Many Palestinian children in the Occupied Territories live in fear that they will be snatched and detained by Israeli authorities. Their fear is more than a child’s nightmare: Children aged 12-17 in Israeli military detention are often subjected to physical, emotional and psychological harm. The 47-year-long Israeli occupation has developed a systematic and sustained pattern in which abuse of children is the norm. For more information on this practice, visit the No Way to Treat a Child website.Deadly ExchangeAcross the country, police departments participate in exchange programs that bring together police, ICE, border patrol, and FBI from the US with soldiers, police, border agents, etc from Israel. In these programs, “worst practices” are shared to promote and extend discriminatory and repressive policing in both countries including extrajudicial executions, shoot-to-kill policies, police murders, racial profiling, massive spying and surveillance, deportation and detention, and attacks on human rights defenders. Many of these programs are funded and organized by right-wing Jewish organizations, including the neo-conservative Jewish Institute on National Security of America (JINSA), local trips led by Jewish federations, and a large program run by the Anti-Defamation League.CJPIP is committed to working against police violence, extrajudicial killings, human rights abuses, and arbitrary detention both in the US and in Israel and Palestine, and we’re looking forward to collaborating on this campaign.
