What is the Chesapeake Arts Center?

We are a thriving community, non-profit arts center that plans and delivers innovative arts and education programs to serve regional residents of all ages and background around our Brooklyn Park, MD location. CAC offers classes and workshops in dance, pottery, painting, photography, woodworking, screen printing, cosplay, drawing, anime, visual arts, theatre, and STEAM for children and adults.

Two professional theatres – the Hammonds Lane Theater with 752 seats and Studio 194, with 120 seats – are the sites for CAC-sponsored performances and are available for rental activities ranging from dance recitals and competitions to theatrical and community events. CAC’s two art galleries feature year-round exhibitions by local and regional artists and arts groups as well as gallery talks, receptions, and other art-related activities.

Our Michael Stanley MakerSpace is open for artists, makers, hobbyists and small business owners to utilize our CNC laser, 24” vinyl cutter, screen printing studio with photo emulsion, and full woodshop for a vast array of projects. Our ceramics studio houses the second largest gas kiln in Maryland.
