Political education and training are pillars of transformative politics. They empower individuals and organizations who work for change. With an ever-changing political climate, progressive organizations, among others, rely on education and training to build capacities, update analytical tools, and innovate ways to face current challenges and shape the future. SocDem Asia works to contribute to this end by offering party workers, activists, and changemakers in the region a platform for retooling their skills and harnessing the power of ideas: SocDem APP.
SocDem APP is a comprehensive political education and training program designed by political advisors, campaign managers, industry practitioners, and veteran politicians from the different SocDem Asia programs from the past 7 years. It taps on an expanded network of resource persons from Asia, Europe, and Latin America for learning, experience-sharing, and collaboration. The courses are designed to provide new ideas, analytical tools, and practical skills on areas of organizational strengthening, political management, and strategy development. They aim to aid political organizations’ agents to serve their day-to-day politics and their strategic mission for transformation. The courses and materials are timely, dynamic, practicable, free, and now online.
SocDem APP consists of the Political Management Training for Young Progressives and the Executive Courses.
Political Management Training for young Progressives (PMT)
PMT aims to equip emerging youth leaders of political organizations with the basic skills on leadership and political management. Through a four-part course program, young progressives in the region are introduced to social democratic values, provided a platform for skills development, and are linked with fellow young progressives from different countries to build relations and incubate collective action.
Executive Courses (EC)
The EC is for party workers, policy advisors, and officials who manage different portfolios and/or departments within their political organization. It aims to aid participants as they take on greater roles in their organization or in their country’s political arena. The program employs a variety of methods for asynchronous learning. It also encourages strategy debates, networking, and collaboration during synchronous activities like expert consultations and workshops.
Alumni Program
Our trainings have had over 250 youngprogressive leader-graduates who are now working on different portfolios as politicians, policy advisors, and party workers at the local, state, and national level. To continue supporting their trans-national sharing and partnerships among progressives in the region and beyond: we built the Alumni Program.
With courses designed to provide new ideas, analytical tools, and practical skills in areas of organizational strengthening, political management, and strategy development, we aim to aid political organizations’ agents to serve their day-to-day politics and their strategic mission for transformation.
