Traditionally the commons was land held “in common” for everyone in the community. That’s Social Impact Commons in a nutshell. We are an emerging community of like-minded people united in our common purpose.
What we hold in common, makes us stronger.
What commoning is not:
A rigid model of fiscal sponsorship or a “one-size-fits-all” solution.
Fiscal sponsors come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. We embrace and celebrate this diversity, approaching fiscal sponsorship through the values and practices of commoning, which centers on bottom-up stewardship, intentional community building, and ongoing learning and sharing.

That’s why, at Social Impact Commons, we approach fiscal sponsorship through the lens of commoning: time-tested practices of resource sharing and stewardship applied to the support that fiscal sponsors offer to social good missions.
Fiscal Sponsorship 2.0, or commons management, provides a framework for sharing nonprofit resources that centers equity, inclusion, and diversity.
