Description:

(A)

Roman Tkachenko is an artist and researcher. Born in Russia, he currently lives and works in Amsterdam. His practise is based on investigating the political and social implications of the built environment. To do so, he looks closely at the vulnerabilities, mis/uses and il/legal re/developments of (institutional and/or domestic) architecture and public spaces. Roman's method outlines and makes tangible shifting moments that occur in the built environment: implementation or suspension of rules and regulations, abandonment or renewal of property, and transformation of the perception of one’s surroundings.

His previous research has widened towards social movements that negotiate the built environment in order to defend their rights and establish forms of care.
