Welcome to Epilepsy Niagara

In this exceptional time of enormous scale and human impact regarding the outbreak of COVID-19 (novel CoronaVirus) all of us at Epilepsy Niagara feel deeply for those who have been impacted by this outbreak. We would also like to take this time to thank all first responders, medical staff, and all those part of essential services like those tireless staff at grocery stores, for standing strong during this pandemic.

As you can imagine, we too, have closed our office temporarily. However, we are still providing services while working remotely although, modified to individuals and families via online and telephone support.

We want to thank our funders (United Way Niagara and Niagara Community Foundation) for their support of the Niagara community during this challenging and devastating time.

We are not government-funded, and so we are continuing to read updates and reach out to government officials regarding relief for epilepsy agencies across Canada.

Here’s How You Can Help! You can call or email your MP and MPP and tell them that the government needs to provide temporary funding for charities doing health and social services work – including Epilepsy Niagara – so that we can continue to provide services.

Please remember! Our MP’s and MPP’s are swamped during this critical time. They may not be able to answer your call or email right away, so give them time to respond. Please remember to “pack-your-patience” and to remember to be kind during your ask.

New Research Opportunity for Adolescents is open now!

Researchers at the Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto, ON) are recruiting adolescents (aged 12-18 years) living with epilepsy and their parents to participate in an online study. The researchers aim to understand in what way epilepsy affects how emotions are processed and recognized. To learn more, click here
