He has closed schools for the rest of the school year. Our last day of school in Runge Independent School District isMay 21, 2020. In order for Runge ISD to continue to receive state and federal funding, our school must deliver distance learning by technology or paper packets. Schools have been mandated to continue instruction for students and grade the assignments. Assignments must be completed and graded in order to document a student being eligible to go to the next grade level. Please make certain that assignments are completed and submitted to the teacher.For seniors, we are awaiting guidance from the Texas Education Agency. Runge ISD will do all that it can to honor our seniors and still remain under the executive order guidelines. This is a difficult time for all of us. We will work together as a school and community familyto do what s the very best for everyone involved, especially our students. Per Policy EB (Local), I am declaring an emergency shutdown until further notice.At this time, we will have very limited staff reporting to work. Instructional packets and lunches will still be provided to the students.We will continually monitor this situation and will do our best to provide updates as they become available. I know we are in uncertain times and many questions remain. In the face of that uncertainty, I am confident Runge ISD and the community it serves will work together to meet the needs of our students. I want to assure you thatRISD is keeping track of the situation through such reliable sources as the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These health officials believe that risk to our community is low at this time.Health officials are recommending local communities and schools take the same steps to protect against coronavirus as we take to prevent the spread of everyday illnesses like the common cold or the flu:-Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.-Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.-Avoid close contact with people who are sick.-Stay home when you are sick.-Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze.-Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.The above precautions can help protect our students, teachers, and community by using simple everyday actions that protect people from other types of respiratory viruses.DSHS has established an email for specific coronavirus questions at coronavirus@dshs.texas.gov.Thank you for your support and help,Linda BettinInterim Superintendentread moreOutdoor Wireless Internet Available Runge ISD has installed an outdoor wireless access point on the outside of the competition gym for students who need internet access. The student will need to contact their teacher for information on how to gain access to the wireless network if they are using a personal device.
