My name is Meribeth Malone. I am a single Mother to my wonderful son Myles. To say it has been a struggle is an understatement. It was very rough for us for a long time. I needed a life change and to do something with meaning so I went back to school for Electrolysis and aesthetics so that my son and I would have a better future and that I could do something I was passionate about and believed in. I got into Electrology because I am also a client. I have been dealing with hair issues all of my life. I was so very embarrassed to have hair growing out of my face. After trying everything under the sun, electrolysis was the answer. I knew then I wanted to go to school to get my license. After graduating I went immediately into practice and I have not looked back since. I really love all of my clients. They are like family to me. I love hearing the stories from each person and connecting people. I love that I get to help people! How long does Electrology take and how often do I need to come in? Electrology is a commitment. It takes many sessions to permanently remove your hair. The reasons are based on what cycle your hair is in, how coarse or fine your hair is, the treatment area and many other factors. After our first consultation I will know much more about your hair, skin and the area of treatment. At that time I can give you a custom treatment plan. This will take time. Beware of anyone that tells you different. Is electrolysis permanent? Electrology is the ONLY permanent hair removal method approved by the FDA. As a client myself, I have personally tried just about everything on the market. I have dumped so much money, time, sweat and tears into products and machines that left me just as hairy and with a broken heart from the empty promises I was given. I thought that was it, this is the end; I might as well come to terms with my hairy face and hiding all of the time. A friend of mine introduced me to Electrology, and it changed my life completely. I am here to tell you that it works. Believe me when I tell you that you are not alone. There is hope! Is it going to hurt? Each person is different. We all have different levels of pain tolerance. We will figure out your individual tolerance and adjust the length of time per session or possibly use topical creams, etc. It is uncomfortable but tolerable. I will do everything I can to make you as comfortable as possible. I have blonde/red/white hair; will it work on these hairs? Electrology works on every color and type of hair and every skin type there is. What is the difference between Electrology and laser? Electrology is the only permanent hair removal method. Laser does reduce hair growth, but not permanently. I have many of my clients that have come to me after having laser hair removal. Does it leave any scars or will it damage my skin? Electrology is 100% safe. Electrology was created in 1875 for the removal of ingrown eyelash hairs. It so safe, I can use it around your eyes. Right after your treatment, the area I work on will be red and puffy for a short time. The redness and puffy skin can last from 30 minutes to overnight, depending on how long I have treated the area. Your skin may also be sore and can breakout in tiny white heads. There is a solution to each of these problems. You can prepare for your treatment at home with an antihistamine to keep the swelling down. After treatment you can put an ice pack on the affected area. Keeping the skin clean before and after the treatments will prevent any breakouts. Every person’s skin is different and reacts differently. I can tell you more during a treatment when I get to know you and your skin. Is there a before and after care? Before and after care is very important for a quality treatment. I like for my clients to have an ongoing skin regime. Including cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. This keeps the skin healthy and the hair unblocked, ready for an amazing treatment. For aftercare, given each person’s allergy tolerances, I can work with you to put together a soothing and moisturizing skin routine. Can you remove all hairs in one treatment? It depends on how dense the hair is in the area of treatment, how large of an area we are treating and how much time we can schedule. Can I get unwanted hair removed from any place on my body? Yes. I can treat any area. I'm getting GRS/SRS and need my genital/arm area cleared of hair. Do you do that? If so, how long will that take? Yes. I absolutely do that. In fact I specialize in this part of the preparation for SRS/GRS. I have dozens of my clients that have gone on to a successful surgery. I suggest 6 months to a year of treatments to get the area thoroughly ready and cleared for surgery. It depends on how dense of an area we need to clear is, what area of the body, your hair cycle, which cycle you are in and if your hair is coarse or fine. Should I start my electrolysis treatments before or after starting HRT (hormone replacement therapy)? Or will hormones affect my results? HRT can affect your Electrology treatments. This has to be a case by case basis. Everyone is different and everyone is affected differently from HRT. We can talk through it together in your consultation and come up with a custom treatment plan with that in mind. How long does my hair need to be in order to get a treatment? I need at least 3 days growth in order to give you a proper treatment. I understand that this can cause a situation for you. I understand the embarrassment, I really do. I am a client as well. We can make a plan together to work on different areas of the face so it minimizes exposure.
