Dear Geneseo Central School Community,The closing of the school year is always a time of reflection and a time to celebrate and honor the tremendous achievements of our students. This year, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we have a new appreciation and level of pride for our students, staff and families. When our daily lives were turned upside down due to the COVID-19 health crisis, our school community came together rapidly with thoughtful and creative deliberation to continue to support students with a new normal. I am proud that even in what has proven to be the most tumultuous of times, facing a worldwide pandemic and a divisive landscape fraught with racial injustice, GCS remains guided by the principles of equity, access and innovation. We remain fully committed to our values that celebrate inclusion and promote an educational environment of respect and one where We All Belong. When you look back on the 2019-20 school year, I hope you remember how you responded in inspiring ways, despite the significant challenges.Message to the Graduates of 2020To our graduating members of the class of 2020, we are proud of you for the manner in which you have endured this moment and risen above the challenges. While this was not the year any of us envisioned for you, your ability to navigate the difficulties and find ways to celebrate your accomplishments with your family and peers, shows true growth, adaptability and strength in character. This is your legacy and, while we will never be able to make up to you for what has been lost or changed, your fortitude will leave its mark on GCS. On behalf of the GCS Board of Education, our District and the entire Geneseo community, we celebrate and honor you and wish you the best as you embark on your next chapter.Budget NewsEven as we celebrate the close of this year and make plans for the coming fall, we are potentially facing the enormous challenge of the largest single-year reduction in state funding to New York State public education in decades.
