Flora Nordica är ett samnordiskt projekt som syftar till att framställa en internationellt tillgänglig (engelskspråkig) vetenskaplig flora över de nordiska länderna, d.v.s. Danmark med Färöarna, Finland, Island, Norge med Svalbard och Jan Mayen, samt Sverige.Alla i Norden vilda kärlväxter, också de tillfälliga, behandlas. Floran skall ge en syntes av vad man vet, och framhålla problem som bör bli föremål för framtida forskning. Verket planeras bestå av 15 volymer (4 har utkommit). En lång rad botanister (både professionella och amatörer, även utomnordiska specialister) deltar som författare eller granskare. Välkommen att medverka! Institutioner runt om i Norden har bidragit på olika sätt, genom direkta anslag, fondmedel eller genom att ställa personalens arbetstid till förfogande. Huvudfinansiär 1987–2003 var Bergianska Stiftelsen vid Vetenskapsakademien, och 2004–2007 svenska Formas (forskningsrådet för miljö, areella näringar och samhällsbyggnad). Sedan 2008 har projektet stått utan anslag. Arbetet har dock inte avbrutits, och flera författare har kommit långt med avsnitt till senare band (t.ex. Cruciferae, Orchidaceae, Iridaceae, Amaryllidaceae, Potamogeton). Merparten av Flora Nordicas arkiv har nu flyttats till Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien, förutom utbredningsdokumentationen som förvaras i Nordiska herbariet på Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet i Stockholm.
