A note from the web author:

ComedyDownUnder.com was originally the product of a 15-year-old high school student. It was turned into the a PHP/MySQL database in 2003 when I was in University, studying Internet Computing. After I completed my degree, I sort of grew out of my interest in stand-up comedy for a while, then got married, had children, and moved to Malaysia, so this project sort of fell by the wayside.

In 2020, I got divorced and lost access to a portion of this old website, because my ex-husband had been hosting it, and I didn't have a back-up of all the files. I hadn't thought at the time that I would want to restore the website (which had broken due to various server upgrades with PHP) because I had a pretty cushy tour guide job I was happy with. Then the pandemic hit and I lost my job, and decided I should get back into tech.

After refreshing my coding skills by learning Python and more complex JavaScript than I'd ever used, I decided I'd like to revisit this website and get as much of it back online as I'm able to, while refreshing my PHP skills (some of the old code is missing so I have to re-write it, but that's okay because this was originally written in a version of PHP that is no longer supported). Anything from the old database will be shared for archival interest only and won't be updated. I haven't lived in Australia since 2008 so I haven't been keeping abreast of what's popular in Australian comedy any more. However, I may rebrand and add some new content in the future based on my more recent skills (such as data analytics in JavaScript or improv) to showcase those, to keep myself busy while I look for a new job.

Please be patient with me as I try to restore what I can.
