Description:

Peter Beinart wants us to trust him when he says the Jews can do without the State of Israel. Should we? An NJ Record news report reads more like a press release from American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), an anti-Israel group. The Record distorts facts, omits relevant history, and uncritically quotes organizations whose members have repeated antisemitic statements. Haaretz's Jack Khoury falsely claims that in the last decade Hamas has accepted the two state solution, to be achieved by nonviolent means. Contrary to his report, the joint Hamas-Fatah press conference isn't an indication of the terror group's moderation; rather it's a sign of Fatah's embrace of violence. When legitimate grievances are co-opted and hijacked by opportunists seeking support for their own causes — under the guise of intersectionality — problems will inevitably arise. The exploiting of George Floyd's death to demonize Israel is based on JVP's anti-Semitic "Deadly Exchange" campaign. It's clear that despite the pretense of interest in African-American causes, its real goal is just to delegitimize the Jewish state. Following contact from CAMERA, the Washington Post corrected a news report claiming that PLO official Saeb Erekat was born in Jericho. But as CAMERA pointed out to Post staff, Erekat has a history of lying about both his own origins and those of Palestinian Arabs. The New York Times won't correct an error it has corrected twice before, and won't defend its incorrect claim. But it is simply false to claim, as does David Halbfinger and Michael Crowley, that there had been until recently a “longstanding American policy treating the settlements as illegal.” The Palestinian Authority is likely covering up evidence of its complicity in supporting terrorist attacks against Israelis. Yet, many major U.S. media outlets are ignoring the PA's suspicious decision to shred papers—and the history that suggests what the Authority is up to, and why. A deeply tendentious Media Line news article, depicting a suspected car-ramming attack as a "Palestinian mistake," conjured up non-existent video footage which supposedly shows the driver was left to bleed to death for half an hour. National Public Radio is the latest prominent media outlet to wipe municipalities off Israel's map. "All Things Considered" host Michel Martin fails to clarify after guest Sami Tamimi places the Israeli cities of Nazareth, Acre and Haifa in "modern-time Palestine." CAMERA prompts improvement of a JTA article which had whitewashed Glenn Greenwald's antisemitic rhetoric, stating only that he "has openly criticized Israel and its political leadership." In fact, he also repeatedly peddled antisemitic tropes, targeting American Jews. Mae Elise Cannon’s book promotes two Muslim organizations, one of which has ties to Palestinian terrorism and another of which has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist organization that has promoted Islamic extremism and anti-Israel bias throughout the world including the United States. The text also obscures the supersessionist hostility of Naim Ateek, one of the founding fathers of Palestinian Christian Liberation Theology (PCLT). After a Palestinian car-ramming attack against Israelis, a senior Human Rights Watch official pretends it never happened, suggesting Israel shot at the a Palestinian for going about his daily business. The Associated Press has failed to either substantiate or retract the highly dubious claim that Palestinian laborers from the Jordan Valley village of Fasayil earn just $3 working on Israeli settlements. Data from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics shows a very different picture: Palestinians working in the settlements and Israel earn more than double those working in the Palestinian private and public sectors. UPDATE: CAMERA prompts correction after Forbes cited the notorious Corbynista Rachel Cousins, who has has a history of peddling antisemitic conspiracies and in tweeting fake news about Israel. Forbes has reproduced Cousins' false claim that a Haifa demonstration took place in "Palestine." In a nearly 1,000-word op-ed railing against 'annexation,' the Washington Post's Ishaan Tharoor omits key facts and history about Israel, international law and the so-called 'peace process.' CAMERA prompted correction of a Times of Israel article which erroneously reported that the Palestinian Ministry of Health is responsible for eastern Jerusalem. According to the Oslo Accords, the Palestinian Authority may not engage in activity in Jerusalem. According to the reckoning of the erudite New York Review of Books, the southern Israeli city of Beersheba is Palestinian territory. Displaying the same intellectual rigorousness, editors argue that an Israeli Education Ministry app reflects Israeli policy better than Israeli policy reflects Israeli policy. CAMERA prompts correction of a Times of Israel article which grossly overstated the number of Palestinians coronavirus fatalities as 34. In fact, the actual figure is about ten percent of that.
