We strive to grow, harvest, pack and ship only the highest quality, local, Florida fruit. Al's proudly features more local citrus varieties than anyone in the Indian River growing region. 2) It all starts in the field with meticulous grove care. Youngest son, Matt (now 21) shares my passion for growing healthy trees. His brother Brad's there to help too on his days off from the fire department. My friend Mark rounds out my grove team having 3 generations of local citrus grower experience. Gentle, careful harvesting by Ben is essential in the field. Next it's up to our experienced packinghouse team to make absolutely sure your fruit is carefully inspected! Each Navel, Honeybell and Ruby Red is checked a minimum of 8 times prior to packing. My wife Sharon even takes the extra time to make gift basket bows by hand and makes every batch of fudge herself!Note- Matt's graduating from FL Southern College in Dec. with his Citrus degree. As for me- I'm responsible for supervising crop selection, growing, harvesting, washing, waxing grading of virtually every piece of fruit we pick. Why do we control everything?It's simple.
