The Squadron Marching Band leading the parade off from the High Street, with all other cadets falling in behind the Veteran's, Regulars and other Cadet Forces. Parading alone the High Street up Railway Street onto Victoria Gardens for the service. With Cadets selected to lay wreaths on behalf of the squadron and for others. The squadron is always very supportive of this event and normally helps with the Poppy Appeal collections prior to the actual parade too.Last year we had the largest contingent attend from the squadron with a full band and over 20 other cadets parading, many for the first time.Like many things this year, its not happening as normal. A small service is being held and can be viewed online, supported by Kent Media Group. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning,We will remember them. For the Fallen, Laurence Binyon ... PhotoView on Facebook ShareShare on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Linked InShare by Email1404 Chatham Sqn ATC 3 months ago *****WE ARE BACK**** We are proud to announce that the Squadron has been authorised via the Regional Commandant to open. The first Squadron in Kent to be approved for return. Over the past few weeks, the staff have been preparing the Squadron for the return of Face to Face Activities. We are now able to confirm our first Parade night will be Tuesday 6th October, where we are looking forward to welcoming back all the cadets. It has been a tough 6 months, even with the success of the Virtual Parade Night each week, it will be great to see everyone again soon.Things will, of course, be a little bit different on the Squadron, and further training online and on Squadron in the first week will enable the cadets to acclimatise to the new normal. Letters have been sent to all the Parents/Guardians this weekend, so if you haven't seen an email from the OC please check your spam folders or contact the OC direct on oc.1404@RAFAC.mod.gov.uk So a massive thanks to the Squadron Staff and Civilian Committee in the continuing support during the closure period. Similar to the staff who have helped in many ways to get the Squadron prepared for the formal authorisation. This hasn't been a small task and appreciates the support provided by Kent Wing and Region to enable this to happen. We accept that there may be changes coming as the pandemic is continuing, with Government or local restrictions affecting the opening date or subsequent parade nights. We can now look forward to the positives and getting back to what we all enjoy doing. The squadron has had many cadets complete the Nijmegen Marches under his leadership. Plus plenty of staff just as committed to the cause as Team Leaders or support teams. All the best to the new Wing RMO Fg Off Postill.Today we held an informal hand over to see in Kent Wings new Road Marching Officer. Flt Lt Chris Tate RAFAC has been Kent Wing’s RMO for 18 years and has taken just shy of 1000 Cadets to the annual Nijmegen Marches with a 100% completion rate and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his hard work in making that possible. Flt Lt Tate has had a positive influence on a huge number of Cadets and Staff during his time in the RAFAC and he will certainly be missed. The role of being Kent Wings RMO has now been handed to Fg Off Marcos Postill RAFAC who will be responsible for Road Marching and the Nijmegen Training Team in Kent. We wish Flt Lt Tate all the best in his retirement and give Fg Off Postill all of our support in his new role. #aircadets #whatwedo #kentwing #vierdaagse #roadmarching #nijmegen #celebratingrm ... VideoView on Facebook ShareShare on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Linked InShare by Email1404 Chatham Sqn ATC 6 months ago “The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust has launched a Crowdfunder appeal to raise the funds it needs to keep the Memorial and its work afloat. The Covid-19 pandemic has left the Trust with little income. All fundraising events have been cancelled and with the Memorial shut, the shop, café, Scramble Experience and car park, are not generating income. Thus the Trust could be unable to sustain the Memorial in the longer term. The National Memorial receives no public funding and relies on fundraising, donations and the income it generates at the Memorial – which is currently non-existent. The situation is now very serious, which is why the Trust has turned to the public for support. In the same way that Churchill’s Few relied on the many – the groundcrew, WAAFs, Royal Observer Corps etc – the Trust that honours their memory is now also relying on the many – you, the public. Please help if you can by supporting the Crowdfunder campaign at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/save-the-national-memorial-to-the-few.” ...
