Pritzker stressed Tuesday, but the new rules that take effect at 12:01 a.m. Friday across Illinois come with some of the same mitigation measures that bogged down business in the spring."The best way for us to avoid a stay-at-home order is to stay home," Pritzker said in announcing the state's Tier 3 resurgence mitigation plan Tuesday in Chicago.WEFT is adjusting it's policies and proceduures to follow the Tier 3 Mitigation guidelines. The theme "Ear Art with Heart" matched that of our Fall Pledge Drive. It also featured our slogan, "Listener Supported, Volunteer Operated, Community Radio!" We have archives of some of our Public Affairs shows going back to 2015.WEFT typically celebrates our Birthday each fall with a Community Party. This year we celebrated 39 years of being on the air with a Virtual WEFT Fest. On Sunday October 11 we broadcast an audio version over the air and streaming. We also streamed a video through our Youtube channel. It features some of the outstanding local talent and a few national acts that have played previous WEFT Sessions or WEFT Fests over the years.There were some technical glitches so we are working on getting a new version without the problems uploaded. We'll let you know when we do. Huge thanks to all the performers and hard working WEFT volunteers who made this happen! School of Music and the Urbana Free LibraryUrbana Park District suspends indoor activities through December 7, and the park district will re-evaluate the situation then. As a reminder, people are still welcome visit and enjoy our parks. This includes new art works at the Wandell Sculpture Garden. Urbana Park District will continue to offer virtual programming during this time. On Wednesday March 5th we shut down our transmitter and disconnected everything in the old shack, moved it to the new enclosure and connected everything up. After running some tests we powered up the transmitter and are once again broadcastng over the FM airwaves. We were off the air from about 8:30 am to about 6:00 pm. The FCC required us to run at 50% power for up to 30 days to ensure we weren't interfering with other signals in the area. They gave us approval to increase our power back up to 100% and we did that on the evening of April 29, 2020.We thank our Community Partners and supporters for their financial help getting this project completed. Thanks to the tower crew from AMF Electronics in St. Louis who worked around some crappy weather & donated some critical cable and parts. We mainly want to thank you, all our listeners for your support and patience!WEFT's Board has voted to allow up to 8 people in the Great Hall as long as social distancing is practiced. Thus some smaller Committee meetings may be conducted at the station.
