Hello one and all,A quick update on our game competition. In the last blog we spoke about how the competition revolved around the use ofYellow Planetopen source code to create your very own game in Stage3D. We've now decided to open it more. You can now enter ANY form of game as long as its in Stage3D or Starling and runs in FP11.That's ANY game you feel will be worthy of winning our prize. The winner will be announced around Christmas time (we don't want to rubber stamp a date, we'll be happy to check things out closer to the time).So time to get creative and get to work. Lets have a quick recap.Adobe Max took place in the lovely Los Angeles and it was a huge success. We didn't get to go this year (too many bills to pay) but we're very keen on hearing from those who did. What we did learn was exciting none the less. The release of Flash Player 11 probably being the top announcement we were wanting, the auto update of Google Chrome using FP11 was a nice addition. One of our biggest regrets is not getting to witness the award ceremony, hosted by Dwight K Schrute...we mean, Rainn Wilson, who happens to be a hero of ours in our/the office."Adobe Flash Player 11 provides unique functionality, including Stage 3D and native 64-bit support and asynchronous bitmap decoding, to allow us to leverage both 2D and 3D components for the best gaming experience possible," says Anton Volkov, CTO ofAlternativa, creator of the gameTanki OnlineThe basic agreement was that Adobe's Stage3d/Molehill engine is going to make games shinier, sexier, simpler and more solid; we won't argue with that either. What we also must gloss over is the release of Starling: an api that allows 2D content to be created on top of already existing 3D GPU Api's in Stage3D. Not only will we be seeing the best 3D games online but we'll also see some magic happen using old school 2D!Something which might excite all you app loving gamers out there too is the announcement of a Flash version of Angry Birds which is in development. Now, we all know the game is hardly ground breaking in its engine, but the game itself is pretty addicting, and what Starling will allow is extra special effects, explosions, characters and weapons.So where does this currently leave us as a gaming portal and community? Well, we are still intent on bringing you the newest demo's/videos/links as an when we find them (or you kindly supply us with them) but we also want to showcase the best 3D Flash games the net has to offer, be they Stage3D/Molehill or otherwise. This is what excites us. We want to see fellow developers creating games and the likes that are beyond the boundaries and imaginations of what we have come to accept.
