Creating a Wave of Cascading Change
Join us in restoring 25 million square feet
Our mission is to create Cascading Change to help protect our planet – because small steps can lead to great impact. Our journey has taken us to the critical foodshed of the Sacramento Valley, CA. We’re partnering with The Nature Conservancy to protect natural resources like wildlife habitat and groundwater to help farms become more resilient. After all, farms encompass more than just the land at our feet – they include a rich ecosystem above and below ground. By supporting Cascadian Farm, you help enable our commitments to projects like these – in this case, helping to build resilience across more than 600 acres, 1 sq ft at a time.
Join us in Cascading Change.
The story of Cascadian Farm begins with our founder, Gene Kahn. An idealistic grad student from Chicago, Gene wanted to farm in a way that would preserve the earth and her inhabitants. In 1972 he set out to farm by trial and error on a little stretch of land in the Cascade Mountains of Washington. He believed that organic agriculture could make a positive impact on the health of the planet, but he also realized that more like-minded farmers were needed to make lasting change. Today Cascadian Farm has grown beyond our original home farm and is a pioneering supporter of farmers who use practices that regenerate the land and their communities.
Cascadian Farm will not be open to visitors for the summer 2022 season.
We know that the Farm is a big part of the eastern Skagit Valley community and that many visitors stop by every year to create memories at the Farm. We are sincerely sorry for the impact this closure may have on your travel plans – we will miss you!Home Farm
