TRAINING FOR INSTRUCTORS ONLY

If you own or operate a self-defense school you’re not only teaching because it’s your passion, but it’s also a business. So, ask yourself these three business questions:

1. Are you teaching real self-defense?

2. Are you qualified to teach real self-defense?

3. Is your student enrolment and profits steadily increasing?

Before you answer, let me first qualify each question.

1. When I say “real self-defense,” I mean teaching your students additional threats they may actually face, beside the proverbial bar fight (an ego fight), in today’s increasingly violent society: active shooter, armed robbery, a home invasion, a car jacking, terrorism, a gang attack, a prison style knifing, a kidnapping (life and death fights). Even children are no longer safe, and they need to know how to survive more than just a bully. Are you currently teaching these subjects?

2. Did you get your fighting training in a military Boot Camp, the police academy, SWAT school, counterterrorism school, bodyguard school, or from the top private security companies in the world? More important than receiving training, did you serve and have real world experiences in any of these capacities: soldier, cop, SWAT officer, federal agent, bodyguard to Tier One principals, security supervisor and trainer to Fortune 100 companies, law enforcement Defensive Tactics instructor or military Combatives instructor? I did, in all of these, and I’ll get to just how I can get you up to speed in a few moments.

3. As school shootings are an almost weekly event are parents coming to you each week to have you teach their children how to use cover and concealment in a shooting, how to avoid skip rounds and spalling, and a lot of other skills that are taught to combat troops that, unfortunately, that children need to know? That’s just “reality.” Does your women’s self-defense course include professional counter-surveillance techniques like those taught to government “spooks?” The stuff I was taught by the London Metropolitan Police when I was imbedded with the Brits, or in counterterrorism school out in the middle of a scorching desert in New Mexico. In your regular daily courses are you throwing in survival skills that prepare your students to protect against criminal chemical attacks, combat first aid to deal with a knife, gunshot wound, or blast wounds? What about what to do during a sniper attack? These are what the true martial arts are all about. After all, the word “martial” literally means “war.” Gone are the days when people just needed to learn punching and kicking, a few knife disarms and a gun take-away, to get by.

If you said, “yes” to the three questions, then you’re doing everything right in this very competitive civilian martial arts market, and you don’t need my services like some of the top police agencies, military units, security companies, and other martial arts schools in the world have. But, if you said, “no” to any of these questions I can increase your knowledge and profits. Just Google my name, Jim Wagner, and you’ll see the impact I’ve had on the martial arts over the past 30 years (since 1986 when I first started teaching professionally). I’m the one who brought the “war” back into the civilian “martial” arts when my techniques, tactics, and training methods were first introduced to the martial arts community by Black Belt magazine in 1999, through my 11-year monthly column High Risk, and Budo magazine in Europe starting in 2000. Since then I’ve been teaching the things I picked up from training with the world’s elite along with my own original material, in 20 countries.

Oh, and in between teaching self-defense and tactics I was a Security Forces soldier, a Special Response Team team leader for a major military base, a Military Police soldier, a Terrorism Liaison Officer, a U.S. federal counterterrorist agent, a deputy sheriff Dignitary Protection Unit team leader, a S.W.A.T. officer, a police officer, a jailer, a security officer for Disneyland, a field supervisor for the largest security company in the world - SECURITAS, a Post Commander for the largest security company in the United States - Allied Universal, and in 2018 I took the failed security team of Blizzard Entertainment, the world's largest gaming company, and in six months I made it into one of the best organized and best trained Fortune 100 security teams in the country.

I can come to your established civilian martial arts school or government approved self-defense club and teach you private instructor lessons on any subject that I offer in the Self-Defense Academy for Instructors, or you can come out to me in Los Angeles and get the same training.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

I improve instructors and systems at every level: military, police, prisons, Executive Protection, private security, and martial arts schools. That's what I'm best at doing. I love teaching. I’ve trained the top instructors of the German national counterterrorist team GSG9, the Israeli Police Academy, the Amsterdam Police Department, the Finnish Police Academy, U.S. Army 19th Special Forces, Brazilian G.A.T.E., Argentinean G.O.E., Mexican SWAT teams. the U.S. Secret Service Los Angeles Office, U.S. Marine Corps Provost Marshal Office at a few camps, U.S. Air Force Security Forces where we launch some of our spacecraft and nukes from off the coast of California, the Bulgarian Secret Service, and the list goes on. I’ve also trained martial arts instructors from literally every fighting system on the planet who wanted to incorporate my original Reality-Based Personal Protection techniques, tactics, and training methods into their own curriculums. I can do the same for you, and that is to fill in the gaps of your martial knowledge and training, and increase your value as an instructor. As long as you do not do anything unethical, immoral, or illegal with my teachings or material, you can do as you please. It’s like any ivy league university. You can either tell people where your got your education from, or not. You can proudly display the university logo on a sweatshirt, license plate, or home flagpole or not.

WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO

Since 2018 I stopped teaching RBPP courses to students, and Lord knows I’ve taught thousands over the past three decades, and now my current focus is being an instructor of instructors. “Why?” you may be asking. It’s because martial arts schools are currently experiencing the lowest number of enrolment in the 30 plus years since I’ve been doing this, and that’s because most martial arts instructors are not keeping up with the times and providing their students with the knowledge and skills they should have in order to avoid, and survive, today’s increasing violent crime and terrorism. Very few children, who now make up over 85% of most school’s student base, continue their training into adulthood, and that’s because they inherently know that traditional-based and sport-based martial arts systems do not address many modern threats. Systems that do claim to be “reality-based,” such as Krav Maga, have seen a rise in popularity over recent years, but they too have lots of holes in their systems (take it from me who has actually trained Israeli soldiers on the military side of the Wingate Institute known as Bahad 8, and countless Krav Maga instructors throughout the world) that could be filled to draw in a wider audience. Of course, I've improved Tae Kwon Do instructors, Karate instructors, Jiu-Jitsu instructors...

If you take advantage of what I have to offer you there are a lot of positive don’ts that will benefit you. You don’t have to change or abandon the current system, or systems, you are teaching. You don’t have to teach under my name; in fact, you don’t even have to tell people that I taught you (it’s like the university example). You don’t have to teach under the Reality-Based Personal Protection banner; you can just seamlessly incorporate what I teach you into your own curriculum when and where you want. You don’t pay me any royalties, franchise fees, or association fees. You’ll just pay me for the private instructor courses I teach you, and any products I offer that you may want, and that’s it. There are no hidden strings. Talk about freedom!

QUALIFICATIONS TO RECEIVE PRIVATE TRAINING FROM ME

To receive private instructor lessons from me you must have an established civilian self-defense school or club, that has been in existence for one year or more, authorized by the local government (business license or sports club certification, and tax number). Note: I do not teach any law enforcement agencies, military units, or private security companies outside of the United States of America.

You must pay all of my expenses and teaching fees immediately in advance once the dates are agreed upon, and the contract is signed between us (the contract is for the terms and duration of the private lessons, and is fulfilled upon completion of the lessons). I don’t have time for those instructors who delay or cancel courses. I require 100% commitment. With my worldwide reputation, and 30 plus years in business, you don’t have to worry about me cheating anyone out of money.

I will only teach in the United States, Canada, the European Union, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. Any instructor from countries not on this list must receive private lessons from me in Los Angeles, which means entering the United States of America legally.
