It is often due to plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is an inflammatory condition. Inflammation occurs where the ligament attaches to the heel bone. In most cases, heel pain is treated without surgery. I often recommend custom orthotics to prevent heel pain from returning.Running InjuriesOne of the goals of my practice is to keep runners running. The good news is the treatment is much easier than you would expect. After I numb your toe (which is the most uncomfortable part), the procedure is less than five minutes. It s always better to get things checked, before the pain gets worse.Diabetic Foot ProblemsPeople with diabetes run the risk of having severe problems with their feet. If you have diabetes, you may have poor circulation to your feet, and they may even become numb. This increases your chances of developing sores on your feet called diabetic foot ulcers. And ulcers increase the risk of infection developing in the bone. And that increases your chance of an amputation. So, you see why it is so important for people with diabetes to have a good relationship with their podiatrist? It literally can save your feet. Think you might have a problem? It s that bump that forms beneath your big toe. You may have on beneath your pinky toe too. You ve may have also seen one on your mother or grandmother s feet.
