After 21 years of living in the US and Paris, I returned to Turkey and experienced a dramatic change in life philosophy: I left investment banking to establish a vineyard and a winery. I acquired the initial parcels in the beginning of 1992 and established a trial vineyard in the village of Arapli in Şarköy (Tekirdağ). There we experimented with various clones, planting techniques, trellis/pruning systems, and wine making.
The experiences we gained in Arapli and the knowledge gained through travelling to over 100 wineries around the world we applied in the establishment of the Ch Kalpak Vineyards. In 2003 we finally openend up Ch Kalpak. This whole process took us about 12 years. We made our first wines in the brand new winery in 2010 and patiently waited until the maturity of these wines which we released in 2013.

We are the first and only Turkish producer to receive the maximum 3 star rating from AWC Vienna (similar to the Michelin restaurant ratings).
Ch Kalpak also returned from Concours Mondial Bruxelles with three gold medals for our three blends of 2010.
Our processes SOIL AND TERROIRVineyards are located on slopes of gravel and limestone receiving the breezes of the Sea of Marmara and Aegean Sea of Thrace (Turkey).

Ch Kalpak vineyards are designed as a modern, visitor-oriented facility. We offer an on-site café located within the vineyard named Kafe Kalpak, where guests can enjoy a variety of paired appetizers on our beautiful terrace, which looks out onto a breathtaking 270-degree view of “sea-forest-vineyards” stretching from the Greek island of Samothraki (Samothrace) to the islands of the Sea of Marmara.
The vineyard can be visited by appointment and tasting events can be arranged upon request.
