WHAT FULBRIGHTERS HAVE TO SAY

“The goal of the Fulbright exchange program is … to direct the enormous power of humanknowledge …
and expand the boundaries of human wisdom, empathy, and perception”

J. William Fulbright

The Killam Fellowships Program was definitely a life changing experience for me. It has provided me with an outstanding educational experience, which has led me to grow and learn more in this short amount of time than in the culmination of my undergraduate degree. Through this opportunity I have become a part of a network of incredible individuals and lifelong friends.

Elli Hanson, Canadian Killam Student
2012-2013

My Fulbright Canada experience has played a transfomative role in my life. I have developed lasting working relationships with colleagues at my host institution and neighboring universities, and have been exposed to new areas of research. As a result, my approach to teaching and research has been invaluably altered.

Jared Sexton, American Fulbright Scholar
2012-2013

Fulbright Canada is an excellent opportunity to pursue unique academic interests while also enjoying the thrilling experience of living abroad. The inspiration that I took from Montréal’s history, culture, and architecture were invaluable to my research. My time spent in Canada was truly an unforgettable experience.

Jane Harbison, American Fulbright Student
2010-2011

Very rarely does a person get an opportunity that will change the course of their life the way that Fulbright Canada does. It opens up a path that helps propel one’s personal growth by being immersed in a new setting and being exposed to great minds. It helps build future leaders, and sustains, strengthens, and broadens the already strong relationship between Canada and the United States.

Fadi Masoud, Canadian Fulbright Student
2010-2011

My Fulbright Canada experience was not only transformative for me, but also for my family. My two children, aged 10 and 13, attended French language schools, and quickly adapted to the the new curriculum. Professionally, I learned a great deal about how my field of early American history and literature is viewed so differently in Québec

Gordon Sayre, Fulbright Scholar
2011-2012

My Fulbright Canada experience has been life changing! The exchange itself is far more powerful than the confines of the project. The learning component is multifaceted, acquiring new academic skills while navigating a new environment and culture, has been invaluable to me.

Catherine Kreatsoulas, Canadian Fulbright Student
2011-2012

My Fulbright Canada experience proved to be a pivotal moment in my life. This journey has been nothing short of a blessing. It has enhanced my outlook on international collaboration, and has provided me with an invaluable network, and lifelong friendships.

Roman Titov, American Fulbright Student
2012-2013

The Killam Fellowships Program has allowed me to grow both academically and personally. Within my first week at the Bamfield Marine Science Center I was amazed to have the opportunity to observe humpback whales and orcas breeching, as well as the glow of the bioluminescent ocean. My Killam Fellowship was a life changing experience that has led me to purse a career in Marine Biology.

Clara Tsao, American Killam Student
2012-2013

The Killam Fellowships Program was a life changing opportunity. I gained a newfound appreciation for Canadian research which I wouldn’t have been exposed to at my home university. Furthermore, by attending a foreign university, I was able to learn about the different expectations that countries place on their students. I grew as a person, and became more independent and adventurous. Overall, it was a great experience, and I learned a great deal about Canada!

Snehdeep Hanspal, American Killam Student
2013-2014

My Fulbright Canada experience was extremely positive. Being immersed in a new culture has fundamentally altered my perceptions of stereotypes about the United States. I was fortunate to have my family with me, which was an enriching cultural experience for all of us. The Fulbright network has allowed me to pursue other projects, through the Community Leadership Program.

Bruno Dupeyron, Canadian Fulbright Scholar
2013-2014

My Fulbright Canada experience was truly exceptional in terms of my academic, personal, and professional development. It allowed me to better understand value systems that underlie preferences towards different healthcare systems. I highly recommend the program as it is most definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Alex Kamath, American Fulbright Student
2014-2015

My Fulbright Canada experience has taught me that despite being united through history and tradition, Canada and the United States still have a lot to learn from each other, and teach each other. My exchange was truly an eye opener, which not only taught me important academic lessons but, more importantly, cultural ones.

Viva Dadwal, Canadian Fulbright Student
