On April 8, 2021, author, journalist and professor Andrew Cohenwill deliver a Fulbright Canada 30th Anniversary Talk, Turn Me Loose: The Heroic Life of Medgar Wiley Evers. Medgar Wiley Evers was the face of the freedom struggle in Mississippi as it began to emerge in the mid-1950s. In the most segregated state in the Union, he investigated the murder of Emmett Till, integrated the University of Mississippi, led sit-ins, marches and boycotts, and registered voters. He worked alone, without a congregation or an entourage, in a mounting climate of terror. Facing daily death threats, he understood the danger but refused to join the Great Migration. His murder on June 12, 1963, on the doorstep of his house in Jackson, opened a season of assassination in the United States extending almost a decade.

Fulbright Canada, The Center for the Study of Canada at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, the Canadian Studies Program at Bridgewater State University, and the Canadian Museum of History are excited to announce a one-day scholarly colloquium, 1968 in Canada: A Year and Its Legacies. The colloquium will celebrate the significance of the year 1968 in the history of Canada.

On September 14th and 15th, Fulbright Canada playshost to this years incoming American Fulbright students and scholars, along with all of the Killam (undergraduate) Fellows, and welcomes them to Canadas national capital for the annual Fulbright Canada Fall Orientation.

Fulbright Canada will host the 2018-2019 cohort of Fulbright Arctic Initiative Scholars in Ottawa and Iqaluit for their inaugural meeting.

The Fulbright Arctic Initiative, sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs the U.S. State Department, with the support of Global Affairs Canada, is designed to use collaborative thinking and problem solving in order to understand and address the unique challenges and opportunities in the Arctic. Fulbright Canada is pleased to announce its partnership with The Walrus Foundation for The Walrus Talks National Tour, Conversations about Canada: We Desire a Better Country, a Signature Initiative to celebrate to 150th Anniversary of Canadas Confederation. The annual Walrus Foundation gala on January 18th, 2017, will mark the launch the tour and the Talks will run from March 1st to May 31st, 2017, stopping in each of Canadas 13 provinces and territories.
