We offer learning opportunities for all students to engage with Indigenous communities at U of T and beyond. Academic Programs with Indigenous Inquiry The University of Toronto offers several academic programs focusing on issues of interest to Indigenous students. FNH Student Advisory Committee The FNH Student Advisory Committee provides advice and feedback to the director of First Nations House on strategic direction, services and programming. Indigenous Education Week Each year near the end of October, First Nations House invites you to celebrate Indigenous contributions at the University of Toronto and Indigenous presence on campus at the annual Indigenous Education Week. Academic advising First Nations House offers culturally supportive academic advising to both undergraduate and graduate students on all three campuses. Elder and Traditional Teacher advising First Nations House offers students the opportunity to meet with Elders and Traditional Teachers for support, guidance and teachings. Financial aid advising First Nations House helps Indigenous undergraduate and graduate students learn about and access a wide variety of scholarships and grants. First Nations House Founded in 1992 by Diane Longboat, First Nations House (FNH) is a culturally relevant hub for Indigenous students at the University of Toronto. Orientation for new students First Nations House organizes an orientation session and open house for new students at the beginning of each academic year. Tutoring supports At First Nations House, the Indigenous Learning Strategist can help you with writing and research strategies, advise you on exam preparation, or show you how to better manage your time. Resource and computer lab The Resource Centre maintains a growing collection of printed materials and audio visual resources that represent a wide range of Indigenous-related content. RECRUITMENT: Community outreach Our Recruitment Officer travels for much of the fall semester to provide information to Indigenous communities about our unique Indigenous student services offered through First Nations House and to promote the University of TorontoÕs various programs and departments. RECRUITMENT: Admissions advising Indigenous staff at First Nations House can assist you with your application to the University of Toronto as well as advocate on your behalf.
