Description:

On my RP6, the counterweight was rubbing the dust cover (not good) because a spacer had to be added under the tone arm to correct the VTA for my Dynavector 10 5 which has a taller body than the Rega carts. My temporary solution was to shim the dust cover by cutting up some felt furniture pads worked, but not exactly ideal. Didn t look great and let dust in under the gap. The solution was to install a Michell TechnoWeight. It s a lower profile nicely machined weight that gave me much more vertical clearance. It s also supposed to track better and made a noticeable improvement in bass response. Well worth the money and pretty easy to install and setup once you get the Rega end stub to come loose. Mine was pretty damn tight and took some work to break free. Install instructions and a more in depth review at the link below. Full Review This probably couldn t be much more opposite than analog My initial reaction was this is ridiculous, just a way to exploit the mystique of Tupac for a quick buck. Then I thought wow, the technology is pretty impressive, which it is. But seriously, a tour ? Go see some real live bands instead and buy some Tupac DVDs. Full Article Finally getting around to posting about 2012 SXSW. Monopony, Sharon Van Etten, ZZ Ward, Sleigh Bells, Hospitality and We Were Promised Jetpacks were the best shows from bands I ve never seen live. Motopony and ZZ Ward were totally new discoveries. You can download ZZ Ward s demo album for free at http://www.zzward.com/Alabama Shakes were really good but didn t entirely live up to the hype. Nice return for Fiona definitely evolved to a much more bluesy sound than her pop years which was cool. The Black Belles have a lot of potential but were pretty tired by the time I saw them on Saturday still a good set though. Blitzen Trapper put on the best set I saw in 5 nights .I ve always really liked them so it was somewhat expected but they re a lot tighter live than the last time I saw them a couple of years ago. I love Built to Spill but Doug Martsch seemed like he didn t really give a shit he was here I ve definitely seen them play much better shows over the years (not really even sure why they felt the need to come play tons of sets at SXSW). Tennis was good saw them last year as well. Youth Lagoon also pretty good (my wife likes these poppy synth bands more than me). The Men was a great loud punk show if you re into that sort of thing the newest album is great as well.Grimes was a total meltdown they couldn t get her sound figured out. She had a rats nest of loop and effects boxes and they were fighting not enough volume out of certain boxes or horrible feedback as they tried to increase gain. She tried to just deal with it and play through but it was a disaster. I bet she s great if they have enough time to dial in the sound. The Black BellesHere s how it all went down Tues 3/13Kimya Dawson Daniel Johnston FriendsMotoponyBuilt to SpillZZ WardWed 3/14Fiona AppleSharon Van EttenDan DeaconAlabama ShakesAndrew BirdNeon Indian (DJ set)The Men Sleigh BellsThurs 3/15ZZ WardHospitalityTennisWhite RabbitsYouth LagoonBlitzen TrapperFri 3/16ExitmusicThe Big PinkBuilt to SpillNew BuildGrimesFather John MistyBlitzen Trapper Sleigh BellsSat 3/17Sleigh BellsThe Black BellesWhite DenimThe Twilight SadWe Were Promised JetpacksThe Black and White YearsStrange Boys Hospitality Privacy Cookies: This site uses cookies.
