A tipi was the summer home for First Nations' People on the prairies for thousands of years because it was easy to take apart and haul behind them as they followed the buffalo. The tipis of the First Nations' people were made of poplar tree poles and buffalo hide. The Aboriginal people slept on buffalo hides and were warm in the tipis in the winter because of the fire in the middle of the tipi. Not warm like we are in houses today, but warm enough to survive the cold prairie winters.

There are lots of different kinds of cactus. Sometimes they grow as tall as a house!
Aunt Deb's favourites are the ones with arms and they're called saguaros. Kyla hiked the trail by this lake.

When the trees begin to bloom in March, the air smells like citrus blossoms. Do you know what citrus means? Oranges, lemons, grapefruit and lime.
