Description:

The Deep Lens Survey is a 20 deg2 ultra-deep multi-bandsky survey. The images were taken over about 100 nights on NOAO's Blancoand Mayall 4-meter telescopes. Publicly available data productsinclude deep images, catalogs, and transient events.The main science goal is weak gravitational lensing, in which subtlecorrelations of the shapes of distant galaxies reveal the interveningmass distribution. We use the multiwavelength photometry to derivephotometric redshifts (approximate distances) to the galaxies. Becausedistance corresponds to lookback time, the combination of these twotechniques unveils the growth of massive structures over cosmic time.At the same time, this rich dataset is useful for many otherpurposes. We encourage you to explore it.
