As part of a trip to fundraise and also forge relationships with Chinese educational institutions, Dr. Hwang visited Beijing, Xingtai and Yungil.In Beijing, Dr. Hwang spent one week at the Beijing Sports University where he embarked on negotiations for a Memorandum of Understanding with the sports management department. The MOU calls for an exchange of faculty and students between ASU and Beijing Sports University. He also spent time at the Beijing Sports Academy, a high school interested in matriculating students to ASU. The trip also included a meeting with the Chinese Tae Kwon Do Association.Of the potential growth in the sports industry in China, Dr. Hwang said, "China's education system is yet still developing towards the Western standard. As such, it stands to be a opportune market to partner with ASU.
