Conservation Districts
Montana’s conservation districts partner with private landowners to keep our land and water healthy for the next generation. Led and staffed by locals, conservation districts champion balanced conservation solutions for those that they serve.
Conservation districts (CDs) are local units of government with missions that vary with the use and resource concerns of their area. In addition to many unique programs offered by individual districts, all 58 conservation districts administer stream (310) permitting in their area. Many conservation districts are also involved with watershed planning, aquatic invasive species prevention, pollinator habitat, soil health programming, and more.

Montana Association of Conservation Districts
The Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization representing and supporting Montana’s conservation districts through advocacy, programs, partnership building, and more.
For [set dynamically] years, the Montana Association of Conservation Districts has been contributing to the success of districts across Montana. Created in 1942, is governed by a statewide Board of Directors, who simultaneously serve as district supervisors in their own districts. In order to carry out the specific directives of the Board, MACD maintains an office and staff in Helena.

Resolutions Library
Each year, MACD’s member districts are invited to craft and submit resolutions that will help direct the advocacy and policy work of the Association on specific natural resource issues. Through the resolution process, districts are able to provide the Association with direct input on natural resource topics of high interest or concern at the local, regional, state, and/or national level.
