Our Story

Founded in mid-2016, Conuma Resources is a steelmaking coal producer based in Northeast British Columbia, Canada. We are an integral part of the global steel supply chain, producing high quality steelmaking coal for leading global steelmakers.We integrate economic, environmental and social principles to create sustainable value for our employees, business partners, and the communities in which we operate.

CONUMA (or Konoomah) means high or rocky peak. This peak is also significant to the west coast First Nation’s People.

Covid-19 Safety Measures

During this COVID-19 pandemic, our chief concern is our employees’ health and safety and the communities we call home. We are taking every measure possible to protect the well-being of all team members and their families.

Since the onset of the pandemic, we have employed extensive Covid-19 prevention protocols developed by our industrial hygienist, including the mandatory use of masks, social distancing, enhanced sanitization, pre-entry health declarations, enhanced transportation and equipment clean-up procedures.

 We have also maintained close contact with our occupational physician and adhered to all public health guidelines. Conuma will continue to take every reasonable precaution to keep employees safe and healthy.

Chetwynd, BC Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in northeastern BC, Chetwynd forms the gateway to Peace River Country and is home to approximately 2,700 people.Tumbler Ridge, BC A UNESCO Global Geopark, Tumbler Ridge is so much more than a humble mining town. It offers an exceptional quality of life to its 2,200 residents.

We are very fortunate to live and work in some of the most beautiful locations on Earth. Conuma supports our local communities through several and varied initiatives and by hiring locally whenever possible. Knowing that, our  locally based employees are hugely positive contributors to the local communities and their economies.
