If there is no rain apply one inch of water to flower beds weekly.
ENJOY THE FLOWERS
SOUTHERN NJ
DFor fresh bouquets cut flowers early in the morning. Fertilize roses and treat for Japanese beetles. Handpick them or repel them with neem oil. Prune shrubs after they finish flowering. Remove suckers (sprouts around base of trees and on trunks) from ornamental fruit trees, Crape Myrtles, crabapples. Water lawn deeply, twice a week in the morning for 45 min, encouraging deep root growth.
BEST TIME OF THE YEAR
CENTRAL NJ
Harvest vegetable crops as they mature, fresh veggies taste great on the grill. Start seeds of broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, kale for a fall vegetable crop.Weeding is best done after watering or a good rain, it’s easier to pull weeds out. Use organic fertilize in the vegetable garden. Don’t fertilize cucumbers you will only end up with all leaves and no cukes.
