What We Do

Way to Win helped to flip the White House and take back the U.S. Senate in 2020 based on a strategy developed with movement leaders across key battleground states. Driven by data and relationships, Way to Win works year-round to fund state-based organizations across the country. Our commitment to the South and Southwest resulted in Democratic wins in Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada— states that were essential to critical wins in the 2020 cycle. Our work is not done. We will continue to invest at the local, state, and national levels to continue to fight for the future of our democracy.

Why We Exist

We believe the future of America requires a reflective democracy that delivers on racial, gender, and economic justice. We will not stop until that dream is realized.Started in 2017, Way to Win co-founders Tory Gavito, Jenifer Fernandez Ancona, and Leah Hunt-Hendrix, PhD, came together to upend politics as usual. They had a vision that centered on long-term organizing in states traditionally ignored by party leaders in order to build a multiracial coalition powerful enough to win elections. Since then, Way to Win has moved over $150 million to movement organizations, candidates, and campaigns pushing the boundaries to pass bold policies that protect democracy. It's over $165 million now!

Who We Work With

Way to Win is a coalition of funders, collaborating closely with partners to fill funding gaps in the ecosystem, engage new donors, build strategic messaging platforms, and throw down together in important states, races, and fights for policy change at the ballot box, in state legislatures, and in city halls to advance progressive change. We believe the best way to defeat the politics of division is through a politics of inclusion. We work in partnership with those most impacted by injustice, nurturing deep relationships with organizations who engage women, Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native, young, queer, and low-income people—the backbone of the Democratic Party. Our umbrella LLC holds the work of the vehicles associated with Way to Win. Its purpose is to deliver the staffing and support to ensure that each vehicle succeeds at its goals.

Way to Win Action Fund — 501(c)(4)

Way to Win Action Fund organizes resources to win near term elections and mobilize the electorate in a way that also builds long term power for impacted communities. It does so by focusing on state-based organizations that work year-round on transformative organizing, as well as voter engagement and governance.

Way to Lead’s mission is to support candidates for public office who are committed to seeking justice for all communities and making our democracy more reflective and accountable. Led by an Advisory Committee of diverse movement leaders, Way to Lead is operated and administered independently of Way to Win.
