BLACK LIVES MATTER

In keeping with the heart and soul of what we do, OUR STUDENTS worked on a case our Director filed with 8 other law offices on June 5th, 2020 in federal court — A FEDERAL CLASS ACTION AGAINST THE LAPD ON BEHALF OF BLACK LIVES MATTER & LA PROTESTERS.

For 20 years, USCMT has been at the tip of the spear when it comes to fighting for civil rights. Our members have worked on every major federal civil rights class action against the LAPD ... as well as the federal case that ended the practice of making it cheaper for police to kill rather than injure suspects ... and freeing caged immigrant children in Texas — work which we continue with the assistance of the Jack Harding and Usman Chaudhry family endowments.

We were doing the work that needed to be done at times when many refused to acknowledge that anything needed to be done at all — and we'll keep doing the work until the job is done.

WE ARE PROUD TO SAY THAT BLACK LIVES MATTER ...BECAUSE FOR 21 YEARS WE'VE BEEN SHOWING THAT BLACK LIVES MATTER.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

INFO SESSIONS for the 2022-2023 season will be held on August 29th (Mon) and September 1st (Thu) at 7:00 pm PST
in CPA 152 on both days.

TRYOUTS for the 2022-2023 season will be held on campus on September 2nd, 3rd and 4th (overflow only).

COVID-19 INFORMATION

How is the Team adapting to account for COVID-19?

Our Head Coach is a germaphobe. Whatever the recommended safety measures may be - he will likely do more. Additionally, IF NECESSARY, our program has a plan to cycle through online and-or in-person classroom learning AND trial advocacy activities and practices. We have also made arrangements with other schools to conduct scrimmages and trials using on-line platforms.

While our preferred method of conducting trials is in-person, the simple fact is that online tournaments were successful last season. Moreover, many courts are currently holding proceedings virtually. There is an art and a science to effectively advocating virtually. This is an excellent opportunity to study both.

Will the Team travel AT ALL this competitive season?

YES -- with caveats as follows. We will scrupulously observe the dictates of governmental and University officials. Also, unless there is safe seating on any common carrier, we will NOT use that method/company for travel. If there are safe personal travel options, we will use those. We will attempt to enjoy as much of our robust travel schedule as we can. However, safety is paramount. If there is a safe way to travel, we will. If not, we won't. COVID vaccination factors into safety heavily.
