At the Borg Node Pillar SRE we focus on the machine management, kernel, new platform introductions, security and the future of the node. We also collaborate with the other Pillars on topics like machine learning, scalability, reliability, optimal fleet.

I'm an Iwith.org founder. Since it's first day I've been volunteering in the organization helping to keep the servers up, writing code for it's Ab·core platform, and provide my vision, guidance and advice to several projects.

The Project

The iWith.org Foundation is a non-profit organisation with an international scope founded in 2001 to participate actively in the development of the most disadvantaged regions and populations, offering active assistance to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the internet and the organisations.

Using its own technology, iWith.org has developed Ab-core, a platform of services which are being used by hundreds of organisations to manage their internet projects and online working.

iWith.org is a pioneer in Internet-based training with the Ab-soo "sharing for education" programme which had the participation of organisations from Mexico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic and Ecuador.

My team, is in charge to review and design the platforming solutions and coordinate with the SBU (Business Units), Hardware CoE and Corporate teams like Enterprise IT, Sentiece.

I was one of the small team who started the Business Unit as an start-up inside Exponential, creating from scratch everything, we had to find a name, create a brand, identify the business opportunities, define the products, the offering, implementing partnerships. CTO. I've joined a company who had neglected technical development for over 10 years. We had to rebuild the technical team, the technological platform, almost everything, even the office. It was an exciting period where we moved from a data-center with tens of servers, to the cloud. We transformed "spaghetti-programming" to Object Oriented. Changed Betacam video tapes to digital online video processing. I'm proud of the savings we accomplish with all the transformations and to see that today the company is flourishing again thanks to a very dynamic technological platform flexible to adapt to the new challenges and partnerships.

Angel Investor, Technical Advisor. I got involved with MusicXRay.com (formerly PlatinumBlue) because I felt in love on the idea to use artificial intelligence to predict if a song it will be a HIT. My previous experience in the artificial intelligence, told me that it was possible and they proved it to me, the missing step was to scale it. For 2 years I've been helping the company to start-up, providing advice and contacts. Today the company is an stablished business with contract with most of the majors.

Angel Investor, Technical Advisor. I got involved with Springboost.com because I found interesting the idea to mix technology and footwear.In 2005 Nike had not launched the Nike+ program. "Technology" in this case means to change the position of the feet, and by doing so helping the athlete to train better, and perform better. In this project I've learned that it's hard and expensive to compete with the big-players in a world with physical goods.

It started as a chemical industry, buying and selling, but also producing chemical materials for other industries like "strontium oxalate" for fire-works industry (it's the red color). My father created a cream hand soap specially designed for mechanical workers, and for several years we have been the preferred choice for most of the auto industries in Spain. Today everybody is talking about Big-data or hyper-targeting, but in the year 2000, marketers where just starting to create their online presence, Amazon was just getting out of the garage, but we where suggesting that we could learn about the users behaviors on internet, and classify the users into clusters with common interest. Micro-clusters with highly defined interest and non-interest, where users will be placed or moved based on the learning we will be doing on their actions or non-actions.

Técnico de Soporte a Usuarios My official title and the reason why I was hired was "Customer Support", but I was the first employee, of the first Internet Service provider in Spain, so I had to do about everything (except accounting). We had to create the products, the brand, the working groups, to build the network, to negotiate with Sprint to get the international line from Washington to Barcelona, ... We did a great job and in less than 1 year we had the top 100 companies in Catalonia as customers of our services.

The project

This was the first Internet service provider in Spain, and I was the first employee. They hired me as Customer Support, but in fact I think I went trough all the departments and help to create almost all product, and build a nice company in a short period of time. We had the top 100 companies in Catalonia as Customers, and one of the best connections to Internet.
