SHPA's 'Standard of Practice in Oncology and Haematology for Pharmacy Services' appears in the latest issue of JPPR, released this week, at a time of rapidly increasing and broadening use of oncology and haematology medications in Australia. SHPA has released a practice update to support safe, immediate use of a powerful opioid toxicity antidote, now more readily available through the Australian Government’s ‘Take home naloxone’ pilot program. SHPA’s ‘Standard of practice in clinical trials for pharmacy services’ appears in the latest issue of JPPR, released this week, as the race for a viable, sustainable COVID-19 vaccine dominates international scientific research. Including pharmacists in residential aged care teams and embedding medicines reviews into home care packages are among the new recommendations, which align with SHPA’s submission to the Aged Care Royal Commission. Professor Jeff Hughes is the recipient of the 2020 Fred J Boyd Award, recognising his commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and innovation, and extensive accomplishments as an outstanding pharmacy practitioner, educator and researcher.
