The House of Pacific Relations (HPR), located in San Diego ’s Balboa Park , is a consortium of ‘houses’ representing 32 cultures. The HPR promotes multicultural goodwill and understanding through educational and cultural programs. The park contains historic 1935 Exposition cottages plus 4 newer cottages where HPR member cultures can offer visitors a window to their culture, history and traditions. We are in the process of building 5 new structures that will house 9 cultural units. Explore our website for information concerning each of the cultures represented, its cultural programs and events, as well as those organized by HPR as a whole. Join us and stay informed! Updated information about news and events are posted on our Facebook page. Open Houses: Cottages are open for 5 hours between 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, showcasing the national traditions from many lands. Hall of Nations: Cultures without cottages host in the Hall of Nations on Saturdays, Sundays and on the 4th Tuesday of the month. The Hall of Nations is available for rental. See HON schedule for details. Lawn Programs: At 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. Each Sunday program is hosted by a member culture which includes selections from the following: music, dance, costumes, arts, crafts, and ethnic foods. Special events are noted with *. At the HPR International Cottages Lawn Outdoor Stage 2294 Pan American Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101 COVID-19 STATUS Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and in concern for the health and safety of our visitors and volunteers, many HPR functions will be canceled in accordance with government guidelines. Lawn Programs and cottage opening hours are on hold until further notice. Several cottages are offering virtual events, so please check with the individual cottages for details. We will reassess our opening times in light of future government direction. Please be safe as we work to get through this trying period. Annual Special Events: The annual Ethnic Food Fair and the International Christmas Festival at Balboa Park's December Nights. Here all the houses come together to share their culture in an event where cottages are opened, ethnic foods are available and an impressive assortment of dance music throughout.
