@artrepublicglobal is proud to announce a new installation by renowned Miami artist, @2alasofficial at 229 N. Hogan, memorializing the contributions and impact of Augusta Savage. This installation was made possible through the generous gifts of Mrs. Delores Barr Weaver and the property owner, George Saoud.This installation celebrates a woman who actively worked as an artist, educator, and activist within her community to create a lasting legacy. The new public installation is a tribute to Augusta Savage’s “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” AKA, The Harp sculpture which was inspired by the hymn “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” by James Weldon Johnson, which fittingly sits facing the newly named, James Weldon Johnson Park. A model of the sculpture was also displayed in the 2018 @cummermuseum exhibition, Augusta Savage: Renaissance Woman.She was truly a Renaissance woman who understood the impact of her work and what it meant to be a model for the next generation.
