Midden jaren negentig wordt midden in de winter het eiland Mainau bezocht. Op dit botanische eiland in het meer de Bodensee groeien diverse palmbomen, die in de sneeuw staan! Door dit schouwspel ontstaat een nieuwe hobby, want ter plaatse worden zaden verkocht van de aldaar groeiende palmbomen, en de eerste zaden worden gekocht. Enkele maanden later komen de zaden op en is de hobby ontkiemt. Gedurende de jaren is de interesse in palmen verder uitgegroeid en is er in 2009 besloten een bedrijf te starten. Er werd een locatie gevonden waar de palmen en exoten kunnen worden uitgestald, en waar nieuwe zaailingen kunnen worden opgekweekt.
