CaribbeanTales International Film Festival

The CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF), our flagship program, celebrates its 16th year in 2021. According to the 2016 Census, there are nearly 2 million Canadians of Caribbean and African origin, not including those born in Canada. CTFF serves this important demographic, as well as those from the wide Caribbean Diaspora, including Europe, the Americas, China, India and the Middle East. CTFF celebrates the talents of established and emerging filmmakers of Caribbean and African heritage who practice their art across the Caribbean Diaspora worldwide. CTFF presents a multi-ethnic mix of exciting and dynamic films that showcase diverse and shared stories as well as cultures.

The Creators of Colour Incubator Program, previously called CaribbeanTales Incubator has hosted over 80 producers from around the world in the last 11 years. The Program has evolved and in 2014 for the first time, we have re-designed it to encourage, and facilitate the creation of long running series content. Our reasons for this are primarily market-driven, in terms of what will be sustainable and popular in the current global economic climate. In our inaugural year, we had a staggering 25 filmmakers across the region participate in the launch of our incubator. Since then, we have tailored our programming to a specific selection process to include only a maximum of 15 participants a year to accommodate the intensive nature of the program to ensure adequate training both in group and one-one sessions for the participants.

CaribbeanTales Worldwide Distribution (CTWD) is a film distribution company based in Canada that focuses on Black and culturally diverse content for educational, theatrical, broadcast and internet dissemination. CTWD aims to be the go-to solution for Black and culturally diverse Canadian producers who want to get their content seen and sold across Canada and internationally. CTWD is part of the CaribbeanTales Media Group a Black-owned and controlled group of media companies, the only media group in Canada that provides an ecosystem of screen-based activities that serve Black Canadian, and culturally diverse audiences. CTMG provides a pipeline of services including development, production, exhibition, marketing, distribution and monetization of film and television content by, for and about Black people. CTWD is formally recognized as a Canadian distributor by Telefilm.
