As crafters, a lot of us collect files and patterns we want to do but, never get around to completing. I took a couple years off from crafting to deal with the day to day issues that we all deal with. Recently, I've taken a returned interest into crafting!! Thankfully, I didn't get rid of a lot of my crafting items that I purchased along the way. However, I'm having an issue with all the digital files I've accumulated across the years. I no longer remember what I purchased across the years. Here's an example. I wanted to embroider a couple hand towels. I had a USB stick that had 4 letters from my favorite font for embroidering on towels! Here's an example The issue is, I wanted to do more than the 4 letters I had on the Memory stick. How did I find the digital fonts I previously purchased??I opened the files and then looked for some copyright text, didn't find it. I looked at the date in which the file was created and searched my computer for a zip file that matched the date. Nope, not there either. I guessed at what I might have renamed the zip file and searched several backup drives I had, Nope. I searched my favorite embroidery sites with names like rope font, rope text, etc... Nope. I finally searched my blog archives and I finally found a post from 2011 with a link to the original website where I purchased the embroidery font. Wow, 8 years ago.I solved the mystery!! Did I find the original file I purchased, no. I purchased the font again!!! I need to figure out a way to organize all my digital craft content!! How do you organize your digital content across many years??Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~My new to me (used) Janome 15000 sewing / embroidery machine has arrived! I waited for a long time for the prices to drop and I finally found a good bargain. I'm so excited to learn more about it! Unfortunately, the sewing foot needed to sew out the decorative stitches was missing so I'll have to wait to test that out until my new one arrives. For now, I just do some straight stitching and turn it back off.To be honest, I also use the auto thread cutter on the foot pedal and the auto needle threader. I think that's the auto needle threader is one of my first favorites. For someone who has a hard time threading a needle, that's a big thing! I look forward to sharing the things that I'm learning on this machine. If you have one and have some favorite items you do with it, please share! Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~Hello my crafty friends!! It's been a while since I posted. After many difficult events that we all endure, I'm coming back from the sad times and returning to my crafting interests! For now, I just wanted to share that I've created something on my embroidery machine. The funny thing is, I can't find the original files that I purchased for this embroidery font. I can only find the 4 letters that I previously created Christmas gifts. For now, I'm pretty happy that I'm returning to some interests in crafting!I embroidered myself a monogrammed hand towel. I love this font! I love the rope like details. Hopefully I can find my originally purchased fonts!! If anyone knows where I can refind this this font, let me know. Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~Theses were made with the Accuquilt Go dies for Sue and Sam and then Embroidery files from http://shop.b-quilts.com/ for Sue and Sam. Enjoy. Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~I have high hopes to return to crafting. It's been a rough year and I'm ready to start getting back into things that make me happy! First would be crafting and second would be having a dog back in our home. Meet Miss Kloey. She was named after my sister's initials KLO. She's growing quickly. The last photo she is 13 weeks old. Here's to a happy and productive 2018 to all my crafty friends!!Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~In our new to us home, it's been taking a lot of time to unpack all the craft items. Especially with all the hurdles we've had with losing our dogs and my sister. At the old place, I had a sewing desk down in the basement near the quilting machine. Additionally, there was one upstairs where I had all my paper craft items. So, in the craft area downstairs, I wanted to place both sewing tables. I'm always a person that places everything around the edges of the room. I thought this time, I wanted to towards the center. So, I placed both sewing tables back to back and placed them under the windows.I then forgot I had the antique Singer treadle machine. So, I placed it on the edge of the sewing tables. It makes it difficult to expand the sewing tables. However, in the past, I didn't open them up much in the first place. So, here is my sewing area.I probably haven't sewn anything in over a year plus. Today, I was determined to do something on the sewing machine. So, my husband has been after me to make a pillowcase for the mypillow travel pillows. So, instead of starting from scratch, I took a pillowcase that my sister made me and cut it down to fit the mypillow travel pillow. I'm very pleased with it. It's only been a month since she passed. You don't realize how much you appreciate homemade gifts until they are no longer with us. Here's the pillowcase. She made me several sets so this will get more use. It's a start hopefully bringing me back to sewing. Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~I really don't have a decorator bone in my body. I'm OKwith leaving my furniture in the same location for years. When we bought our recent home near a lake, I earmarked a girls bedroom downstairs to be my sewing room. Keep in mind that I have not sewed for a while. However, that does not mean that I got rid of all of my stash or craft items. No, I packed it all up and moved it to our current home. Here is how the room looked on the realtor listing. Not my favorite colors but I'd rather work with the colors than repaint the room. I really dislike painting. The room was listed as being 16.4 by 14 in size. I can work with that. We removed the carpet and had linoleum added to this room. This was the dogs room when we first moved into this home last year and we went to work. I was able to look in on the girls through a camer. Plenty of room to roam for them. The dogs were not a fan of it but it helped in the year that we had them at our newer home for their last year.BEFOREPROGRESS PHOTO - LINOLEUM AND 4 CABINETS BUILTI built one more of these cabinets for the right side of the wall. They came from Lowes. They will house as much as they can but mostly fabric. Stay tuned for more photos from the craft room setup over the last couple of months. Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~It's been too long since I've crafted or even had a blog entry for that matter. I've made cards here and there but nothing on fabric like a quilt or wall-hanging. It always seemed that we were either packing up the old home, remodeling the old home, selling the old home, unpacking, etc. Then I started dealing with difficult items. Both my dogs passed this year in March and September. They were 15 year old yorkies and were the apple of our eyes. Mindy and Mandy. As I finally come to terms with losing them, I was hit with another loss. My sister passed away at the beginning of this month. She was only 55. She fought a long and hard battle with Systemic Scleroderma . I'm hoping that by getting back into the blogging scene and crafting, it will keep my mind distracted as I work through these losses. Thanks for visiting and I look forward to sharing my new craft room photos. Here's to some new crafty adventures. Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~The more I unpack for our newer to us home, the more I have come to realize that I have accumulated too many craft items over the years. As you can imagine, unpacking has been slow since we both are working. I saw this image on the web and immediately thought of my situation.Don't get me wrong, I'm very blessed and happy with my current storage areas. I've been busy organizing and shaking my head at how much fabric and papercraft items I have accumulated. I finally assemble my embroidery machine this weekend. I am ready to at least start sewing simple items and starting to downsize what I've accumulated over the years.I'll try and post photos of the craft areas. The room downstairs has the oddest paint colors, but I'm OK with leaving it for now. I did splurge and buy some matching cabinets to try and store all the fabric and craft items.Stay tuned for photos.. Do you feel you have too many craft items. What is your preference, papercrafts or fabrics? Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~Hello to all my crafty friends. It's amazing that about 10 months ago, my goal was to just start crafting again. I blinked my eyes and so much has changed. Family members have moved into assisted living, hubby and I decided on a whim to up and move after 20 years in the same place. Do you know what's it's like to pack up and move 20 years worth of stuff. OMG. Especially someone who loves crafting? Why of course you do!! To pack up and move all those crafting items was an eye opener. So, to bring myself back into the blogland, I share this repeated photo to remind everyone to get out and vote!!Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~Yeah!! I actually created two blocks this past week. With my schedule, I'm happy with that result. It's a great start for me in the new year. I also updated my embroidery digitizing software so that I can start working in my embroidery machine as well. This has been a UFO for a year or two. I started creating the strip pieced blocks because i had a bunch of fat quarters that weren't the most appeasing. However, when placing them in strips, they start to blend together. So, on to my goals for the next week! Hope all is making progress in their crafting for 2016!Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~Happy New Year to Everyone! One of my goals for 2106 is to return to crafting and blogging. It's way past time and I miss the enjoyment of crafting and sharing ideas and links with friends. It's been too long.To start the 2016 year off right, I'd like to start by sharing some of my tons of crafting bookmarks. As with everyone, I have great goals of being organized for 2016. Because of this, I'd like to share two of my favorite sites for downloadable/printable organizational calendars and printables. The Printable 2016 Planner from The Handmade Home! -This site has numerous designed downloadable pages to create your own 2016 planner. Organized Home's many printable library of Calendars and Planning and time management printables. Here's to a New Year, New You, and a New Start for everyone!! Happy New Year Everyone! Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~I love combining crafts to create items. This time it's embroidery and cardmaking. I searched for the perfect heart pattern and found this heart at abc embroidery designs. I knew this was going to be on my card the moment I saw it.I then cut it out in a square size a smidgen smaller than my cardstock. Placed double-sided tape on the back and placed it on the top section of my card. Then I placed half inch strips around the corner to hide the edges and double-taped them down and trimmed around the heart. I finally adhered the corners with rhinestone tacks and there you have it.Hope you enjoy your valentines day! Thanks for stopping by!~*~Trish~*~
