Description:

Welcome to the UC Santa Cruz VLSI Design Automation (VLSI-DA) group web page. VLSI-DA was founded at UC Santa Cruz in theDepartment of Computer Engineeringin Fall 2006. The primary research focus of the group is on physical circuit design which involves circuits research and algorithms research for Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for large-scale circuit optimization. Topics being investigated include design for low-power circuits, variability and reliability, thermal-aware design, and error tolerant circuit design. We are looking for new students! If you are interested in learning more about our group, please see the section on joining the group and do not hesitate to contact me.VLSI-DA has been funded byNSF,NASA, CITRIS,UCSC, and Google. International Electron Devices Meeting Paper and Presentation The OpenRAM team was invited to publish a paper at the IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM) onEnabling Design Technology Co-Optimization of SRAMs through Open-Source Software. Prof. Guthaus will be presenting at the December meeting virtually. Google supports OpenRAM Google has provided a generous gift to support the OpenRAM memory compiler. This gift will be used for improved coordination with other open-source projects, improved process support, and other general improvements. OpenRAM and VLSI-DA at Workshop on Open-Source EDA Tech Hunter Nichols presented his open-source PUF analysis tool -- Puffery. Prof. Guthaus was on the panel discussing gaps in EDA technology. Two VLSI-SOC Papers Accepted Two papers from the group were accepted into the VLSI-SOC to be held in Cuzco, Peruon October 6-9, 2019. The first was accepted as a long, oral presentation onAutomated Synthesis of Multi-Port Memories and Control byHunter Nichols, Michael Grimes, Jennifer Sowash, Jesse Cirimelli-Low and Matthew Guthaus. The second was accepted as a short, poster presentation onBottom Up Approach for High Speed SRAM Word-line Buffer Insertion Optimization by Bin Wu and Matthew Guthaus.
