Ce 12 novembre dernier j'ai assisté à l'événement La Nuit Des Chercheuses et Chercheurs au Biodôme. C'était merveilleux!
Dans un premier temps nous avons fait la visite des installations le soir, ce qui est très rare, avec des experts qui nous expliquaient ce qu'on voyait et répondaient à nos multiples questions.
C'est impressionnant d'observer les différentes espaces aux atmosphères contrôlées et adaptées aux espèces qui y habitent. Entre autres, voir le couple de capybaras dans leur espace qui nous regardaient passer. Ils se tenaient proches un de l'autre. La plupart des animaux dormaient mais nous avons néanmoins observé un couple de castor dans leur habitat artificiel sous surveillance vidéo, une petite femelle porc-épic qui se balançait incessamment sur une branche et les créatures aquatiques dont les méduses d'eau douce qui prospèrent dans les eaux du Québec.

Après cette agréable visite, nous avons assisté à un "talk-show" scientifique animé par la journaliste scientifiqueMarie-Pier Élie qui a accueilli:
Nathalie Ouellette, Coordonnatrice scientifique canadienne pour le télescope Webb et coordonnatrice de lInstitut de recherche sur les exoplanètes (iREx) à lUniversité de Montréal;
Jennifer De Almeida, biologiste et technicienne en entomologie à Espace pour la vie, Insectarium de Montréal;
Simon Joly, botaniste-chercheur à Espace pour la vie, Jardin botanique de Montréal
Jean-Philippe Gagnon, biologiste et agent de recherche à Espace pour la vie, Biodôme de Montréal.
Nous avons entendu ces chercheuses et chercheurs passionnés nous raconter leurs expériences en situation, leurs déceptions en tant que chercheuses/chercheurs, leurs découvertes et plus! Les enfants étaient totalement subjugués par cette rencontre vraiment bien planifiée avec les animaux, les plantes, les minéraux, les champignons et, bien sur, les scientifiques sur les lieux pour nous expliquer ce qu'on voyait et pour répondre à nos questions.
C'était la deuxième année qu'Espace pour la Vie offrait une soirée de ce genre.

CETTE MUSIQUE NE JOUE POUR PERSONNE
Ce film de Samuel Benchetrit a réalisé et écrit une comédie qui m'a fait bien rire! Une bande de dure à cuire menée par Jeff de Claerke, joué par François Damiens, est le meneur de ce regroupement qui a très peu d'humour. Il a le béguin pour une jolie caissière, Roxanne interprété par Constance Rousseau, et tente de gagner son amour en lui écrivant des poèmes.
Entre temps, Suzanne (Vanessa Paradis), qui bégaye, est déterminée de réaliser une pièce sur Simonne De Beauvoir mais son mari a dû emprunter l'argent au dure à cuire Jeff de Claerke. Ce dernier envoi Jacky, merveilleusement joué par Gustav Kervern, recouvrir les argents. Il a le coup de foudre pour Suzanne et de là les scènes qui m'ont fait rire le plus se développent.
Entre temps, le duo Jésus (JoeyStarr) et Poussin (Bouli Lanners), tente de rassembler des jeunes personnes, par des méthodes pour le moins douteuses, pour venir à la fête organisée pour Jessica (Raphaelle Doyle) la fille du patron.
LES APPARENCES
Un thriller psychologique signé Marc Fitoussi avec Karin Viard et Benjamin Biolay, le couple Ève et HenriMonlibert, richissime et circulant dans une société aisée mais bavarde. Madame s'aperçoit que quelque chose ne va pas dans son couple. Elle découvre la supercherie de son mari qui vit une relation illicite avec la professeure de son fils, Tina Brunner (Laetitia Dosch).
Ève ne veut pas perdre ni son mari ni les avantages sociaux d'être l'épouse d'un célèbre chef d'orchestre. Alors qu'elle fera des démarches totalement ignobles à l'égard de Tina elle ne s'aperçoit pas qu'elle s'est attiré les attentions d'un jeune homme perturbé lors d'une soirée anodine.
Du début à la fin il y a des dénouements surprenants, déplorables et cruels qui nous gardent en haleine. Un excellent suspense qui se déroule dans une scénographie élégante.

HELL HATH NO FURY
This is the story of Marie DuJardin, played by Nina Bergman, a resistance fighter who is mistaken as a Nazi sympathiser as all those who can confirm her identity have been killed. She escapes an ambush with the German officer, Von Bruckner played by Daniel Bernhardt, who shows her the gold he stole from the Third Reich.
The story jumps back and forth to show us who the characters are that affect Marie's fate at the moment the crux of the tale unfolds. She has been rescued from more public abuse by a group of American soldiers who take her to the small rural cemetery where she says the gold is buried.
Jesse V. Johnson directs this war action film with a lot of violence and some gore.
The irony of the story is about the men fighting over gold as the World War is raging and people's lives are always hanging by a thread. Like most World War movies, it is disturbing to see human insanity stretched out on the screen. Death is the invisible character throughout.
You can stream this war drama from all platforms starting today.
CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG
Opening in Montreal cinemas and available on Paramount Plus streaming on November 10, the delightful fantasy for children inspired by the children's book series written by Norman Bridwell.
The film is set in New York and provides just the right note of magic needed by the younger generation who has been so isolated after two whole years of confinement due to COVID.
I enjoyed the casting very much: Darby Camp is adorable as middle schooler Emily Elizabeth; John Cleese of Monty Python fame is a delightful wizard whose mission is to protect animals; Jack Whitehall is zany as the irresponsible Uncle Casey who is babysitting Darby on the day Clifford joins the family.

Space Explorers: The ISS Experience
For the last few years I was so privileged to experience the entire ISS Experience produced by Félix Paul Studios. Many of the pieces will be travelling around the world but there is a fabulous view featured at Espace pour la Vie. When the project was presented to the press several weeks ago astronaut David Saint-Jacques spoke to us via satellite from NASA. We learned how the camera was packed with the astronaut as he was heading for the space station. He was the one responsible for the pragmatic side of filming in space including sending back the physical supports for the digital content that would be processed here, in Montreal.
This is such a unique project that reveals how human beings and now plants, we see a bit of the plant experiments surveyed by Christina Koch in this presentation, are adapting to 0 gravity. In this projection, we get a sense of the size of the space station. For example, compared to The Infinite, where we move inside the space station in VR, the Planetarium view on the dome reveals space whereas the VR feels claustrophobic.
You will get to hear astronauts David Saint-James, Christina Koch, Anne McClain and Nick Hague. You will get a fabulous view of the Earth and our solar system and, if you are like me, revel in the wonder of it all!
The other advantage of the 360 dome projection is that you will be able to share the experience with your family and friends.
Space Explorers: The ISS Experiencewas written by Félix Lajeunesse and Paul Raphaëland received the collaboration of many international space agencies including NASA and the Canadian Space Agency. The project has received multiple awards including the latest, a Primetime Emmy Award 2021 - Winner: Outstanding Interactive Program

We Live in an Ocean of Air
Once again PHI Centre has put together a VR experience that will make you love nature and its great mysteries even more. Created by the British collective Marshmallow Laser Feast the intricate piece that aims to demonstrate how profoundly we are connected to each other and nature.
As usual, there is a team of technicians that assist us to get ready for the journey in alternate dimensions. First we need to wear the equipment that kind of looks like a jet pack, then put on the head gear and become familiar with the handles. Once everything is in place, we begin to observe breath, ours and that of those who will share the experience with us. Then you see your blood flow. A field appears, a scent of the forest manifests, light connects everything. Although the creators debated among themselves and decided not to tell the public about the secret I will reveal, I informed them I would share it with you because the experience goes so fast you may not be in there long enough to observe that you can affect what happens by the way you move the handles. You're welcome!
You may decide to explore another innovative installation:Living Sound. You may not be aware that for decades artists that work in multimedia have been refining the use of sound in their art. Here you will be surrounded by a soft plush red environment where you can escape the daily grind for as long as you need lulled into a peaceful state with a selection of music.

Make way for the circus!
This gorgeous exhibition presented by Pointe-à-Callières Museum retraces the history of the circus from Europe to the US to how Quebec had its own style of circus modus operandi. For example, where European and American circuses were operated as an enterprise with an entrepreneur organizing events, here in Quebec the acts travelled on their own across the province to present their performances.
I really loved the models of circuses that show both the magical tents, the rings and the public in awe as they would be dazzled by acrobats and clowns! There are art works, sculptures paintings costumes from the Cirque du Soleil, costumes with sequins for the white clowns, I discovered there are three types of clowns!
As you visit the exhibition you will be amazed by how little you know about circus history and contemporary circus that have evolved into dazzling sophisticated spectacles that take our breath away! There are also activities that are scheduled so be sure to check the calendar.

Quel plaisir, d'abord de retrouver les visages familiers tel Guilhem Caillard le directeur général du festival et Monique Simard présidente du CA du Partenariat du Quartier des Spectacles ainsi qu'une partenaire importante des arts numériques par son implication dans les Prix Numix et Forum Numix.

Cette exposition consiste en colonnes qui diffusent des extraits de films québécois réalisés à Montréal et distribués dans la ville. En plus, les murs des édifices iconiques qui clôturent la Place des Festival sont animés par des extraits de films québécois.
Nour Belkhiria dans le rôle de Nacira Abdeli dans Une RévisionLe film d'ouverture de cette 27e édition de Cinémania est aussi le premier film de Catherine Therrien Une Révision.J'ai ADORÉ ce film qui illustre de façon pertinente la diversité de Montréal et la mollesse des institutions face aux conflits que soulève le moindre faux pas dans les institutions éducatives. L'histoire évolue autour d'un devoir rédigé par Nacira Abdeli (Nour Belkhiria) qui se sert d'un passage du Coran pour soutenir son argument dans un papier qui doit parler de logique et de Spinoza. Le professeur, Étienne Brasseur interprété par Patrice Robitaille, ne lui donne pas la note désirée et dont elle a besoin pour poursuivre les études qu'elle veut poursuivre.
Tout fonctionne en synergie pour produire un film satisfaisant et pertinent: le jeu des comédiens bien centré et efficace, les dialogues intelligents et la confrontation d'une nouvelle réalité montréalaise.
Le festival ne fait que commencer. Enfin vous pourrez profiter de visionnements en salle qui sont maintenant ouvertes à pleine capacité. Vous aurez besoin d'une preuve de vaccination avec carte d'identité. Suivez les liens attachés pour en apprendre plus sur les forfaits disponibles et les nouvelles du festival!

Je connaissais bien des recettes végétariennes succulentes mais je n'avais jamais dégusté un menu complet sans gluten ni produits laitiers aussi savoureux! J'ai été épatée.
En arrivant aux lancement du livre chez KO Éditions la première personne que je rencontre est Marie-Josée Morin qui a dû m'expliquer quel était ce plat brun avec boules rouges* qui se trouve là, à l'entrée. Madame Morin est associée de Katrine Paradis qui en collaboration avec sa fille Margaux Verdier réalise des desserts sans gluten ni produits laitiers, développent des recettes inusitées, publient une revue mensuelleet maintenant nous offrent 100 recettes inédites dans un livre d'une grande beauté.
À gauche vous voyez les plats appétissants qu'on peut faire sans gluten ni produits laitiers. Katrine Paradis nous raconte que l'exploration des saveurs et des substituts dans leurs recettes est aussi agréable que de réussir un plat dont l'alternatif est déjà populaire telle l'excellente pizza que vous voyez dans l'image de gauche!
Sur cette table vous voyez aussi la plus onctueuse crème de champignons que j'ai goûté. On ne peut pas croire qu'il n'y a pas de crème dans ce potage aux épices équilibrées qui donnent un subtil arrière-goût des plus satisfaisants. On voit aussi une salade produite avec des choux-fleurs grillés et des feuilles de menthe qui excitent la langue. Au coin de droite on voit les boulettes dans la sauce crémeuse brune mais sans produits laitiers! Ces boulettes se servent avec plusieurs accompagnements tel le riz ou un ramen.

Finalement on arrive à ce plat ( à droite) qui m'a tant intriguée, le brownie aux framboises cuit dans une poêle en fonte. Il est parfait! Il possède la texture onctueuse qui colle aux dents avec une intense saveur de chocolat, des croquants de chocolat et des framboises pas trop sucrées qui rafraîchissent le palais.
Mais ce n'est pas tout! Ces recettes peuvent être adaptées pour les végétariens, les végétaliens et ceux qui comme moi sont flexitariens!
En plus d'être beau, j'adore les livres, il y a de touchantes anecdotes dans ses pages qui dévoilent comment une mère et une fille ont oeuvré ensemble pour résoudre les problèmes de digestion dont souffrait Margaux Verdier.
Ce fut un réel plaisir de rencontrer ces femmes entrepreneuses, innovantes, et pleine d'entregent! Vous avez des liens attachés dans l'article qui vont vous mener à des recettes déjà publiées sur leur site.
